The bad. This season did take one arc way too seriously, maybe it was the writer wanting to put too much Japan into a series that doesn't generally take place in the country. The arc did seem a bit forced but it wasn't horrible and it gave birth to a pretty bad ass character.
The good. Where as the final arc of this season took up half the freaking season, the final arc wasn't bad and it did show how a normally calm and collected girl could turn to crime after becoming the head of a Yakuza family. The arc is interesting but would be better as an OVA. The other arcs however, I loved. I loved the murderous, cannibalistic, and incestuous twins that came in the first arc of this season, the amount that they were able to develop two characters that could be either male or female in only 3 episodes was actually a pretty great feat. The second arc was okay, it gave us more characters that we won't see developed for another year or two from now and one that we will probably never see again, but it did introduce Sawyer and develop Eda's character a bit more. That's another 3 episodes and then we have the Japan arc. Which pretty much took up half the series, at 5 out of 11 episodes this season.
Final Verdict:
If you were a fan of the original series, then give this a watch, even though it pretty much just takes on a stereotypical Yakuza anime near the end, it was still a pretty good experience. Like the last one, this is one of the only anime where I really enjoyed the dub a whole lot more than the original.
