i could go on and on about my favorite character (chihiro fujisaki if you were wondering) if i wanted to but im just going to cut to the chase:
this anime could have been so much better if it were longer. it was outstanding, i loved it! but it didnt dig deep enough into the characters. if you really want a better version of this, read a let's play. specifically this one: http://lparchive.org/Dangan-Ronpa/
it isnt much more into the characters and its nice to watch the anime then read this, honestly. i watched the anime and thought it was good but so many people talked about how non-indepth it was. and its true, the characters weren't brought out at all in here. the let's play shows exactly how the game is except in english translation. its like reading a manga, almost.
i wish it would have some backstories to it, dangan ronpa isnt all too in depth character wise in the first place. but it wasnt made to be that way. its almost like ... sword art online (except 100x less shitty).
dangan ronpa itself had amazing characters, but we learned nothing about them! except, the main stuff of who they are. sword art online was almost the same situation, but instead of having good characters they had shitty characters and the cool characters you didnt get to learn about you just kept hearing about the shitty ones. sigh.
of course, dangan ronpa is a different setting, where the characters can be as cool as they want but not be shown much humanization. which is fine because the storyline itself is incredible. the way every thing was thought out, its almost like.. death note!
death note had so many twists and turns and its like the author could be just as much as a genius and Light is, no wait, hes more than that! hes Light's god. its incredible how someone can write something so incredible. but, as its storyline is great and all, the most comedic relief you get is L eating cake. sigh, again. dangan ronpa however has much more comedic relief and the art is so cool and different, it stands out from the rest. so much color.. so much PINK. heheh.
anyways, altogether this anime was not half bad. id suggest reading the lets play too, and ive heard of some side light novels you could read that go along with the let's play.
and oh hey. theres a manga btw. its way more in depth than the anime and the let's play combined apparently. im going to read it and try to confirm that. heres another link.
