Story - 10
It's a really clever anime. Bakemonogatari will provide perspectives and new thoughts that other animes have failed to provide for me in the past. The solutions to any conflicts that occur make sense and it's not just "anime logic." Things will fit together as you watch and it really connects well. It happens piece by piece into one big picture and it's really quite unique. c: This anime really makes me think sometimes, haha! Very original, to simply put.
Art - 10
The settings are very... minimalist in a way, but not so simple that it's boring, but also not so simple that it doesn't give off any "feeling." The colors that are chosen for every scene are either very fitting or ironic and the entire thing is beautiful. The animation is very smooth, and the expressions that each character show are VERY well executed. When there's pain, you'll see it. It's not just a sob, it's not just a grunt. I also really like how they don't just stick to boring scenes where nothing moves and it's just the character sitting still (you know what I'm talking about.) Often times they (the creators) focus on what the character may be doing with their hands or show abstract symbols going on somewhere in the scene. It's really interesting if you pay attention to the details, because a lot went into this, you can tell!
Sound - 9
The soundtrack is soo fitting with the settings and situations, it really got me into the same mood the characters were facing. There are jazzy tracks, smooth piano, and really energetic tunes that go well with everything that's happening. c: The only reason I gave this a 9 and not a 10 is because of personal preference when it came to the openings (which were wonderfully animated by the way.)
Character - 10
There is SO MUCH variety in the characters. At first, someone may seem dull but they could surprise you. Each and everyone of the characters have a uniqueness to them. They're all so quirky and moody and insane in their own ways. Tsunderes, yanderes, whatever. You want it, Bakemonogatari has it. c:
Enjoyment - 10
I was so happy that I found it after it finished airing since I could watch it all in one run. After each episode, I always looked forward to the next. I wanted to know what happened next, what did they do. Everything is very unpredictable and it's not like I would watch one episode and think "they'll probably do this and this next," because you soon notice that it's too complex and clever to be like any other anime. And if you're like me, you really think about the conflict and when you finally get it, when it clicks, it's such a fantastic feeling. Like solving a huge mystery, hehe.
Overall - 10
It's my most favorite anime, and this season was the best one in my opinion. The others are really just as good, but this is the one that started it all, and I think that it could be an anime for anyone. I don't like gore at all, but this anime was worth it. Personally, gore is a huuuge turn-off for me, even Attack On Titan couldn't get me to keep watching. This anime is really something. (:
