Gintama is by far, my most favorite anime. To tell you the truth, I'm was born in 2001 (Guess if I'm 12/13). So if you think about it, the jokes in Gintama are a bit 'high' for me. But hey, its those jokes that makes me laught to death (Yes! Gintama: 100% Comedy!). For my ratings, here they are:
-STORY- (10/10)
Gintama is mostly made out of stories that take up about 1/2 episodes, but there are arcs. The longest arc being about 8 episodes. There is humor in of course, ALL of the episodes. But you can also pick up the emotional scenes in the 'serious' arcs to the point of crying. Although Gintama doesn't really have much of 'straight' storyline like Naruto or Bleach, you will realize how deep it gets as you progress into the series. Thats just how Gintama is.
-ART- (9.5/10)
Gintama art is absolutely fantastic. They draw out the characters and backrounds really well. The movements really gives life to the characters. The fighting scenes are detailed and are interesting to watch. The arts also makes emotional scenes look way better and makes you feel the 'feeling'. The openings and endings has fantastic art. It makes you actually want to watch them. They really get together with the music. Way to go!
-SOUND- (10/10)
I have just realized this after watching a Gintama 'funny moment'. The Gintama seiyuus are on another whole level of epicness! If the Gintama seiyuus weren't as hillarious, professional or epic like the ones we have now. Gintama wouldn't be as funny/hillarious as it is now! The OSTs also fit with the situation. Be it hilarious, sad or cool. The openings and endings also have a catchy theme. The songs are played by some really great artists. All in all, sunrise does a very good job on the sounds and I hope they will keep on doing their best in the future. :)
-CHARACTERS- (10/10)
The characters in Gintama are unique and unreplacable. Most of main/supporting characters have a downside to them, which makes them downright funny and hillarious! Even the antagonists get some 'funny personality'. They are unique in their own ways. The girls in Gintama aren't the 'cute' type. They are independent and can fight for themselves. Thats why Gintama is one of my favorite series. Because the females are respected in their own light.
-ENJOYMENT- (10/10)
There has never been any anime that has made me laugh to death or overflow with tears like Gintama. The enjoyment I feel whenever I watch Gintama can't quite be explained. But it always makes me laugh and roll on the floor. Well, Gintama is a 100% comedy anime after all.
-OVERALL-(9.8/10)
Overall.... It is an unexplainable, fantastic, fabulous piece of work. The art is detailed. The sound is perfect. The characters are unique. The enjoyment is fantastic. So overall, its my most favorite anime of all time. Gintama is Gintama because it is Gintama. Thats all I can say for this fabulous peice of work. And I hope you guys will enjoy Gintama like I do!
