Wolf Children. A gem of what good anime really is. One of those few things that I wish more people would recognize. So today on DemonBorne reviews: Wolf Children.

S T O R Y

Overall, Wolf Children doesnt have a specific story. At least not one that jumps out of the screen like: I AM A STORY!!! Though deeper into the film, you see what it really means.

Wolf Children is about a woman named Hana, who was in college when a mysterious man was in her lecture class (I have no idea what his name is, the wiki isnt even helping...) . She followed him out, and the two began talking. Months later, he revealed that he was a wolf, and because of the sexua-

No. All we know, it that Hana kissed him while he was in wolf mode, and we flash forward. They give birth to two wolf children, Yuki and Ame. Later, we see their fathers wolf form in the river, dead.

The movie follows them as they move to the countryside, and as the children decide who they want to be in life: A human or a wolf.

It's an adorable storyline with a cute message at the end. Which I cant reveal, for spoilerific reasons.

I'm just gonna give a rough look at the 3 main characters:

We have Hana, the mother of the 2 wolves. She would do anything for her children, which is shown in the course of the movie. She also never frowns, a smile is always plastered on her face. This is because her father told her to always smile through everything, but sadly he died. And what happened at his funeral? Hana was smiling ear to ear. And she still doesnt see how that must have looked... "Your father is dead." Then she starts smiling like a maniac... Great.

Then we have Yuki, the excitable girl cub. She isn't your average girl. She doesn't like makeup or jewelry, and instead she likes snakes and mummified lizards. She is also very hyperactive, and when we see her as a smaller child, she was attacking the furniture, and getting angry constantly. She also has a large LARGE appetite. Wait... This girl reminds me of... ME... With the exception that Yuki likes.. *shivers* School...

Finally we have Ame. When he was a small child, he was shy and hated being a wolf, which he usually cried about causing Yuki to call him a baby. After a near death incident, Ame changes completely. He hates school and spent those days with his mother at a conservative place. Ame becomes more of a wolf than a human, and gets more angry. And I have to say, they picked THE best male funimation voice actor (In my personal opinion) to play him in the dub.

S O U N D

Speaking of dubs, this is one of the few movies I will say has a great dub. But what else can you expect from Funimation. The dubbed actor for Ame is Micah Solusod. He is best known for playing Soul Evans in Soul Eater. That might be the reason I love him so much. The calm voice portrayed Ame's character perfectly.

The music, at a few parts, like when the wolves were running through the forest, did make me say to myself "Wow, they did a good job." Though half the time, it was so quiet I didnt even notice it. Which is a shame, really.

Ah, I cant express my love for the animation enough. It is SUPERB!!! Genuinely some of the best I've seen. The characters are defined, the scenes are executed perfectly... My only grudge is that the 'heaven' scenes may be beautiful, but it was a bit... Meh, for my liking. As I said, my personal opinion. But still, hats off to Studio Madhouse.

O V E R A L L

I have brought together my scores from all the catagories, aswell as my enjoyment of the movie. And the score is: Exactly 8.

So what does that score do? It gives you the message to...

BUY IT.

Right now, the dubbed Bluray and DVD have been released in America and the UK.

Hope you found this review helpful! My name is Miasaria, and this was a review of Wolf Children.
