This being my first review, I'm not to sure how to write this but I'll give this a shot and try not to spoil anything.

I haven't watch a Pokemon series since Battle Frontier but have played all Pokemon games up until the last X and Y on the 3DS. But I decided to come watch this as it followed the story of Red, the person you play during the first generation of Pokemon games.

The anime does follow the basic of most of the other Pokemon anime but follows the story more along the lines of the games, which I quite enjoyed. This added a lot more information and backstory to most of the characters you see in both the games and animes. The story is basic but is presented well enough for me to warrant it a 8/10.

To the art style, there isn't much to say about it. Nothing appeared amazing to me but to see the world of the Pokemon games presented in an animated form was to say the least amazing. 9/10

The music and sound used throughout the anime was nostalgic to the original Pokemon games and the way they remade them for this anime was perfect. 10/10

There really isn't much to talk about the characters as most of you have probably see them all before. 8/10

As for me not having watch a Pokemon series for awhile and not playing the newest Pokemon game, I still found this quite enjoyable to watch and I learnt a lot about the first generation games and the newest ones. 9/10

Overall, there isn't much to fault on this anime. The story was presented nicely and they elaborated on a fair bit in just 4 episodes. The art style was quite impressive and better than a lot of the recent animes that I have watched. The nostalgic feel to the music and sound and basically the entire anime was great.
Without trying to spoil to much, the story if basically a summary of the first generation of Pokemon games with a little background on the whole Mega Evolution concept presented in the newest Pokemon games, X and Y. After watching this, it really had made me want to play through the first gen games again and buy a 3DS to play the new ones.

I give this an overall 9
