Clannad (Anime) add (All reviews)
Nov 22, 2013
Clannad... One of the most popular, loved and adored Key adaptations. It's hard not to love it for anybody that has watched it, but like every other anime, this one is no exception to those occasional people that are not interested in slice-of-life types of animes.
In the first few episodes, the art isn't as best when it is compared to its quality later on, but it still rises above the average if you compare it to your average anime. The characters are a bit more detailed than the previous Kyoto animation characters, but aren't as original. { Which is mainly the visual novels ' fault ' }. The characters could be and are classified as a certain stereotype in the anime universe, but they also have more depth to them than your average anime would have. Each character is different and thus they attract different audiences into the show.
The sound, as always, is as beautiful as any other Key adaptation. The memorable ones are the 2 openings and { of course } the Dango ending; those are just a few among many other personal favorites.
The story is based around our main protagonist, Tomoya Okazaki. A sarcastic teenager that doesn't think of himself as something big and claims to ' hate his town ' . Although he might not think of himself as anything out of the ordinary, its quite clear that the females that surround him do. Nagisa Furukawa, a gentle and calm female that needs to repeat her senior year due to health issues that stopped her from graduating the year before, Kyou Fujibayashi, one of the Fujibayashi twins - the aggressive and protective one, Ryou Fujibayashi, the other Fujibayashi twin - the calm and shy one and the last, but certainly not any less important, Tomoyo Sakagami, a girl that is quite mysterious and slightly cold at first that opens up as the story develops.
The story is based around Tomoya, his best friend Sunohara and many female characters.
But the story wouldn't be as amazing if it didn't have a little twist on it and that twist is the Illusionary World that is somehow linked to the real world where our characters live.

If you're into blood, gore and shinigami worlds, this is not your anime. But if your after a glorious story, hilarious comedy, beautiful music and outstanding art and ' slice-of-life ' type of animes do not bother you, why have you not watched this yet ? I can assure you that no matter which animes you've watched before, this one will stay with you long after you've finished the 2 seasons.
