I'll keep this as short as possible:
This is a great anime to watch if you're having IDOLM@STER withdrawals - good music, cute girls, etc. I feel like the girls' struggle in this show is more real - you see them learning to sing, dance, write their own songs, even if it is a bit rushed as others have pointed out.
The music is very good and honestly I like the way they animated the dancing. The choreography is definitely more interesting/complicated than anything I saw 765 Pro do.
If you've ever been a performer or had a dream you wanted to accomplish, the story will hit home with you really hard. I rated it high for this reason.
The biggest drawback is that the characters are developed very unevenly. IM@S excelled at introducing and developing all 13 girls (to their credit, they did have twice as many episodes to do so), but it also didn't have a central character to push the show along. LoveLive very obviously has a main character, so naturally she (and her two best friends) get the most development. The other girls are likable (Nico grates on me but at least she's entertaining) so here's hoping the second season gives them the treatment they deserve.
