Shiki (Anime) add (All reviews)

To begin with, the anime didnt quite appear appealing enough when the vampires first arrived at Sotoba and began their hunt. But soon, as the story progressed, I realized how different it is from the other vampire anime I've seen yet.

Well, as much as you (and I) hate to admit it, the concept of vampires is fictitious, yes. But even then, the creator has made sure to utilize this property and add as much realism as possible to this anime. That makes the anime even more likeable. Its not based on the usual concept of vampires rising, people dying, a vampire slayer arriving and using holy water, crucifix or garlic to slaughter the beasts and restoring Sotoba to its original state or building a world where humans and vampires can live together in peace. No, its not at all like that and this is what gets you even more intrigued to find out what exactly happens later in the anime and also to find out which clan survives at the end - Humans or Vampires.
Another interesting concept shown in the anime is the Okiagiri. Quite a few mysteries to unravel there, for those who dont know about their existance at all.

The only drawback to this anime is the extra and unnecessary amount of talking that Muroi does in his philosophical ways. Tends to make you lose interest at times.
Also, the death of certain important characters might have a certain impact on some of the viewers as they might gradually get attached to them and later feel disappointed by their death. That said, if these characters had actually survived, the anime probably would have lost out on the awesome storyline and great climax towards the end.

This is one anime I'd suggest to all vampire lovers out there!
