This is my very first review, so I decided to use this opportunity to write one for Shin Sekai Yori.

I was anxious to dive right into it because it was categorized as a horror , which is one of my absolute favorite genres.

Story - I will admit that the story started off very slow and reminded me of a Slice of Life, rather than what it was really intended for. But as the episodes progressed further, the story became much more interesting, drawing me into its dark atmosphere. The plot was very confusing for a while because of the unexplained events happening around the characters, but it was appropriate since the events would eventually lead to the mystery of what is going on.

Art - I have to say that the artwork is one of the best i've seen in an anime in a while. After several episodes, however, the artwork was noticeably different. I was pretty indifferent about the change because I thought it was great either way.

Sound - The soundtrack is simply amazing and it fit perfectly with the story, drawing me into it even more. At first, I thought it was weird that it didn't have an Opening, but that was immediately pushed aside once I heard the Ending songs. The OSTs are hauntingly beautiful and are permanently ingrained within my mind.

Characters - The characters are truly what made Shin Sekai Yori an amazing anime. The character development started off weak in the earlier episodes, but at the same time it was believable. This was due to the fact that they started off as children and then grew older as the episodes progressed. Each character dealt with their own personal issues and that eventually led to how their fate was encountered in the later episodes.

Enjoyment - I highly enjoyed this anime overall. I experienced a mixture of emotions such as happiness, fear, and empathy. With the amazing plot twists, I was constantly kept on the edge of my seat in suspense as my heart raced in anticipation for the next episode.

Overall - I would definitely recommend this anime to someone who enjoys a good, graphic mystery and enjoys constantly have the hairs on the back of their neck standing up.
