I've never been into mecha and stuff alike, When I was a kid I was always afraid of metalheads talking like human, I don't know why. Maybe its because when I was a kid I was a lot feminine than most of the guys? Oh. Don't get me wrong, I don't swing that way(if you know what I mean). So I decided to give Suisei No Gargantia a try, and it didn't disappoint me. Here's why.

Story : 9
Earth is suffering from a new ice age, making it inhabitable for humans. So humans were forced to find another planet. And Galactic Alliance was formed to find suitable planets for human to live in. Basically the show is about the Galactic Alliance trying to defeat Hideauze, alien life forms that threatens humankind. And that's where our main guy comes. Leto, a second lieutenant at Galactic Alliance fought against the Hideauze. They're mission was to annihilate Hideauze's lair. But they failed, and were forced to retreat. Leto and his Machine Caliber(Gundam-like robot) Chamber were attacked and was forced to crash on an uknown planet. The uknown planet turns out to be Earth. And he crashed on Gargantia. Gargantia a big ship on earth consisting of many ships that are linked to together. Basically its a big fleet. Its an alliance of humans on earth against pirates. And that's basically what the story is about.

Art : 10
The art is amazing. Given that the series is pretty new. And we rarely see crappy art nowadays. Every little bit of detail is drawn impressively. Action scenes were really awesome, backgrounds were perfectly drawn. The art on Gargantia is topnotch. No bad thing can be say on Gargantia's art.

Characters : 9
Characters on Gargantia were quite many, and most of them have their own unique traits that compliments other characters. We have our main protag known as Leto, a bishounen in every way you look at him. A soldier who doesn't have any emotions. And his trusty metalhead pal Machine Caliber K6821 or simply Chamber, an AI that supports its pilot in every way it can. And of course, we should have our moe moe girl protag character! Her name is Amy. Amy is your energetic and optimistic girl who really compliments what Leto lacks. She helps Leto in various ways regarding on how to live on Gargantia. Characters were drawn pretty impressive too. Even supporting characters were drawn good. They can be easily identified with just a glance.

Music : 8
No music worth mentioning. Well this ain't K-ON! or Tari-Tari, so don't expect a lot of music. It has 1 opening theme which is good, and 1 ending theme that's quite good too. Its pretty short to have its opening theme and ending theme. So I guess they didn't bother putting a lot of tracks in it.

Enjoyement : 10
I enjoyed it a LOT! I don't know why, maybe because I haven't watched a lot of mecha series before. But anyway, I enjoyed Gargantia a lot, they seem to balance action scenes and giving fanservice. I didn't quite expect the fanservice though, I thought it was focused on a lot of actions. But Gargantia kept it minimal, so I enjoyed it. Who would wanna watch breasts, pantyshots and cleavage? Me! But overall, Gargantia provided me an awesome series I've been longing to watch once in a while.

Overall : 9
Honestly, at first I thought this series would turn out like your average kiddy mecha series. But damn, I missed badly. Its good, since they seem to balance action scenes a lot, and giving a little bit of fanservice once in a while is good. It is more than your average 13-year-old shounen animes out there, it has a deep story behind it. I love the way they put conspiracy on it! And tragic moments on certain scenes were really amazing. I thought I smelled romance on Gargantia, but then again I was wrong. I guess if they make another season, romance would kinda bloom on Gargantia? Well anyway, the series is reaaaaaal good. It shows how humans can be ambitious and try to break their limits even if its comitting a taboo. For me it was worth every second I've watched it. Hopefully, you too who read this will enjoy it as I did.
