I'm going to start out by saying this: I think Nichijou is the best anime ever made. Now that that's out of the way I'll get to the review. On the surface, Nichijou appears to be a Slice of Life anime that thrives on non-sequitur humor, a plotless over-silly ball of beautifully animated fun. However, what it does is show how the victories and obstacles we encounter every day, the pointless coincidences and the little miracles we witness every day of our lives are actually beautiful. I believe the over-dramatic way some of the girls react to minor issues like dropping some food is actually how the problem feels at the time. It takes these occurrences and scales them up to how they feel in our minds.

The anime also deals with relationships in an awesome way. Without spoiling the series, there are several relationships that develop over the course of the series, and at each turn I found myself celebrating their triumphs and mourning their losses. Keep in mind, actual plot happens maybe once every three or four episodes.

Essentially, the reason I love Nichijou so much is it shows the beauty inherent in our every day lives. It shows us that the ordinary is actually anything but. It helps us see the goodness in life. And that's what good art should do.
