Not knowing the storyline or plot of the show, I started watching Hakuouki hoping for a light-hearted and funny anime. Well, this show is the exact opposite of what I wanted! But just because it wasn't what I was anticipating means nothing. This show grabbed my attention from the very beginning! I was unable to turn away as I fell in love with the brotherhood relationship of the Shinsengumi and the different relationships that each member had with Chizuru. This show truly knows how to capture the audiences heart and then tear it to pieces! A very good show to watch!!
