I think everybody knows about the plot of this series because of all the hype it has received. But does the anime live up to the expectations and the hype? Well, yes. The story is wonderfully written and every character fits just right in this world. The way the villains are introduced and their origins are also great. The only bad thing I can say is that half way the series it kind of drags and at the end a character is introduce and dispose of in a very anticlimactic way. And the ending is in my opinion just plain horrible. But don’t get me wrong the ride these boys give us is an unforgettable one even though the destination wasn’t what we expected. Perhaps if the series was a bit shorter it would have been better. I decided to see the series because of the hype and ended up loving it, every single character was great and how each character evolves is also wonderful. The series tends to be mellow and funny at the same time, it’s kinda of weird to explain. I’m a casual anime fan that sees a series every now and then and trusts me this is no “Pokémon” or “Naruto” this is a great series that just happen to be mainstream just like “Death Note”. Don’t let the series popularity keep you from experiencing one of the best anime ever like it did for me for a long time. Both this series and “Death Note” deserve all the hype that they have unlike “Bleach” and “Naruto” which pretty much suck.
Art
The art is ok, not great just ok. It looks good but I don’t think that anybody will be attracted to this series because of its art.
Sound
Wonderful soundtrack you will be whistling to the series score for a long time. I love when a series has a score that is memorable and they are few, I can only think of “Rurouni Kenshin” as another series with a kick ass soundtrack.
Character
Well this is all what the series is about, characters. The series is about two boys and how they deal with what has happen to them, it is about a man’s obsession to rise to the top and about a man’s vengeance. How they cross each other path is pretty much what this series is about, I mean there’s more to it but I’m not entering in spoiler territory.
Overall
This is hands down one of the best anime ever, perhaps in the top ten ever.
