Jul 11, 2013
So, this is my first review in this site, i do however have some experience in the reviewing area, mostly in other subjects like movies, games and sports, but i thought i would give a shot with one of my other passions, animes.

I decided to go with hataraku maou sama (hms for short) because it was the last anime i finished watching, so lets get started shall we ?

Story (9/10)

The plot in hataraku, although may seem as a cliche, regular story at first glance, (specially if this first glance is just reading the anime summary) its actually pretty original. Sure it has the characters we are used to see, the demons versus angels/mankind thing, and love couples we can see from a mile away, but thats not where hataraku brilliance lies, what hms does, and very well, is take all these cliches scenarios and add to them a completely crazy unexpected twist, making the viewer laugh his ass off in the process, for example, how could someone ever picture a Maou working at mcdonalds ? i mean its just outrageous to think of it, and thats exactly what makes it so funny.

Art (8/10)

The art in hataraku is pretty good, good character design and all... of course is no masterpiece but it does its job good enough.

Sound (7/10)

The sound in hms is ok... nothing flashy, no memorable soundtrack or anything like that, but its good enough. The opening song is cool, i will not download it to my iphone but i still could sit throug it without complains, the same goes for the ending, which is actually really sweet by the way, specially combined with that nice set of Chiho images.

Character (9/10)

This is where hatraku really shines in my opinion, again we do have some cliche characters, like Chiho, but despite their being a bit annoying at some points its nothig unbearable. Luckily these dull characters are more than compensated by some terrific characters like Lucifer (be honest, do you really thought that when he showed up for the first time, looking all bad ass and evil he would turn out the way he did ?), Maou itself, who is a good lead character for a change, and of course my favorite one, the brilliant Ashiya, by far for me the best character from last season, everytime this guy stepped on the scene i couldnt stop laughing, congrats for the outstanding voice acting by Yuuki Ono.

Enjoyment (9/10)

Hataraku Maou-sama ! was a delightful anime to watch, i got sad when it got over, and i really hope to see a continuation soon, the comedy was top quality, and the plot got interesting near the end, i'm sure it can develop even more if given the chance.

Overall (8.5/10)

One of the best animes in the last season, got me tottaly by surprised, and hooked me up from the first episode to the last, I definetly recomend it if you are looking for a light hearted comedy, with some pinches of action.
