To sum up Suisei no Gargantia in the context of Final Fantasy VIII:
It’s like Esthar accidentally walked in on Balamb Garden and Fishermen Horizon making sweet love on the night of the Lunar Cry.

This review will be to the point on all aspects of the anime and aimed to be spoiler-free to give people an idea of what the anime will be like before wetting your toes. I’ll say most people will be hooked by episode 2 or 3. If not, then I am just terrible at conjecturing others.

Story: 9/10
The story flow is smooth and appealing. Parts don’t feel rushed, the characters fit in naturally, there are moments of bliss among all the hectic, and the plot builds up smoothly to a climax that made me go: “HOLY TACO FRIES HAHAH! clap clap fucking clap”. Seriously, I was clapping while watching it… all alone… in my room… naked… aye.

Character: 8/10
Ledo - Not your typical wussy-pathetic male lead, I can tell you that much.
Chamber - I love this tin can.
Amy - Cheerful, adorable, and DAMN CAN SHE MOVE THEM HIPS. Not much backstory otherwise.
Other supporting characters – helped drive the story immensely although they feel a bit hollow.

Atmosphere: 10/10
Absolutely superb: peaceful lives of people floating on fleets of ships surrounded by natural phenomenon. Everyone is just so damn happy… of course the MC has to stir something up to make the anime interesting.

Art: 9/10
On par with the any top anime rolled out this season. Just bear with the visual overload of pew-pew-pewing in the first half of episode 1. The vivid portrayal of the fleets, rusty machines, and horizon are astounding and draws you in… wishing to be a part of their life.

Sound: 7/10
Tracks/songs or use of music during key scenes aren’t particularly memorable but the sounds match averagely well with the action.

Enjoyment: 10/10
Prepare to be glued to your sofa-bed episode after episode, regardless of whether it ended on an OMG-moment or not.

Even though if you’re not a mecha fan like me, this anime will not disappoint. I can bet most of my virginity on that.
