I just finished all 13 episodes and I have to say, I was very impressed with this show. I think most people assumed this show was going to be another bland and unfunny anime, and I think we were all taken by surprise after the first episode. The best part? The show stays just as good and funny throughout most of the season.

This show is funny. Like really funny. This was easily the best comedy this season, and I'll bet it'll end up as the funniest anime this year. There really isn't anything to say about the comedy in this show, besides that it was more clever than I had thought, and that it wasn't just spouting off random jokes 24/7 just to get a good laugh 1 or 2 times. That, along with the fact that the jokes in the show were more "universal" is what puts this show above most comedies like it. Shows like Gintama and Lucky Star can be funny, but only if you are an otaku. This show manages to be funny without every joke feeling like an inside joke and possibly going over your head. In that regard, it felt more like a sitcom (well, one with an actual plot)instead of your usual comedy anime. But probably the most surprising thing about the show was how good the story was.

The story on its own won't be winning any awards or anything, but for a comedy anime I was pleasantly surprised with how good the story was. The best part and probably the icing on the cake for why I liked this show so much is because it made me laugh, had a good story, but didn't get overly dramatic like many comedies tend to do and it didn't go overboard with the romance. It is a rare gem indeed to find a show that doesn't fall into that, which is why I like this show so much.

But it isn't all gumdrops and ice cream for this show.If I had to point out its flaws, I'd say that the story could get a little side tracked at times, and some episodes just weren't as funny as others. There was an episode or 2 between the two arcs, which weren't as good as the rest of the show, and there was a generic beach episode that wasn't very good either (the beach episode was funny though). I also find it weird that the show never mentions why the Satan himself became such a good person. Honestly, after watching the show I completely forgot he was evil. I suppose it's because he is smart, and acting evil at his job would cause him to get fired, but it doesn't explain all his actions in the show. It isn't the most consistent comedy you'll ever see, but it is one of the few that could make you laugh dozens of times an episode while still having an interesting plot. I should also point out that it had a good ending, and since the last "arc" ended the previous episode, nothing felt rushed or anything and it felt like a normal day.

As for the characters, I liked them all, so I don't have any complaints here. Most of the cast didn't get any real development or anything, but I think it is better off like that otherwise it could have gotten too serious for my liking. Besides, these characters will make you laugh every episode, do you really need to know their life story? Admittedly some characters were better than others (Alciel was the funniest character IMO), but they all have their moments and none of them hinder the show in any way.

The production values on this show were also good, but nothing out of his world. The score in the show was pretty good, and I liked how it sounded very exotic at times (it felt like music you would hear on Ente Isla). The animation was very smooth, so I have no complaints there either. I would like to mention the faces the characters make throughout the show, as they are some of the funniest expressions I have seen in an anime. Honestly I haven't seen expressions that funny since GTO.

Overall, I liked this show a lot, as it was one of the more clever comedies I have seen (hell at times it was even too clever for me). But what really makes it stand out is how it doesn't fall into the traps that other comedy anime tend to fall into like melodrama and cheesy romance. It's a show that stayed true to it's roots, and thats why I'm giving it such a good score. It deserved it.

Final Verdict (86/100) - Watch it if you want something very funny, that doesn't go overboard with the drama and romance. It's also a good start for someone who hasn't watched much anime and wouldn't get the otaku jokes in other comedy series.
