Aishiteruze Baby or "I love you, baby" suffers from a title that makes people believe it's a lolicon, when in fact it's a very hearfelt but very neglected shojo anime. Really, I feel this series is greatly undervalued, and it does not deserve it.
Enter Katakura Kippei, playboy absolute, who now has to take care of his five year old cousin, Yuzuyu. The first episodes are a bit slow and tiring, but I'm so glad I did not drop this anime, for I was in for a big surprise. What really drives this series is the characters. Kippei, despite his slacker manner and childishness, is actually great with Yuzuyu and he develops into a soft spirited, caring guy. Yuzuyu is adorable, and even quiet girl Kokoro improved on further aquaintance.
The situations and backstory of the characters are sad but very well handled, it never felt overdone or cheesy, On a plus, this is the first anime that has brought tears to my eyes (granted, I haven't seen Clannad, but still).
After I watched the last episode on youtube, I read someone's comment that said:" I feel like this anime has taught me a lot of things". Indeed, I felt the same.
