Both have:
- Complicated love polygon filled with angst.
- Naive optimistic heroine & kind hearted main guy.
- One of the protagonists is completely selfless and shows true altruism to the one he loves (Miyake in TnA and Ao in KnB);
- The "other girl" is regarded as pretty by everyone, pitied and misunderstood and is trying to forget a past love.
- A pairing that becomes a couple so one of them can forget a former lover.
Both are great reads.
Reading Tonari no Atashi reminds me of Koishitagari no Blue. They both have similar vibe from the type of stories and how it is drawn. You can tell that they come out from the same era from the art style. As for the story telling, both follow a similar formula of love polygon as the drama point. They also share the cheerful and naive MC that gets more mellow over time as they learn more about love and heartbreak.
