Pieces of Anime Literature. Contextually speaking, both should be viewed in the perspective that places the protagonist in a neutral position and can only act within their limitations of what they can and cannot do in their respective worlds. Morality and the human condition is greatly explored in these episodic chapters within a beautiful and yet sometimes twisted world. Kino no Tabi focuses more on the antithesis of a world that is not beautiful yet brings some sort of beauty and Majo no Tabitabi explores the similar conceptions but within the realm of fantasy & magic. The morals of these stories can lead you to   read more

this show is basically a poor attempt to copy the brilliance that is Kino no tabi. if you want to enjoy a series about a journey that is episodic in nature, but with a main character infinitely more complex and interesting then this one. in a similiar dark setting. then i strongly reccommened you watch the old kino no tabi.

Both display a main female protagonist going on a journey through different countries in their world. Observing and learning about the harsh realities of the world they live in. Kino shows more of the philosophy of the world while Elaina is more character-driven in hopes to become a wiser person than she already is.

Both are episodic shows about a traveler who goes from place to place meeting people and having adventures. Sometimes helping along the way and sometimes simply being an observer.

Both series involving an achronological narrative direction that involves following the main female protagonist travelling/wandering all around their world exploring different countries and meeting all sorts of people. Both MCs, Kino and Elaina, have had an influential master/teacher figure, and both are genuinely caring and understanding individuals, but often have to play the neutral observer to avoid complicating already existing issues. The differences are that Kino no Tabi is more focused on philosophy in its settings, while Majo no Tabitabi is more character-driven; Kino is also actually a bit more passive and honest, while Elaina has a more smug and cunning side to her. both are so similar in the way that kino and elaine are travelers visiting strange lands.

Both shows surround the main character travelling around the world on long journeys where they observe different places and cultures. Kino is more philosophically based with places having completely different traditions and rules but both shows present the setting as the main focus of the show.

A traveler that explores the world from a neutral point of view.

After the episode 3 of Majo no Tabitabi, you can also specify that the MC sometimes needs to stay neutral as she is essentially an observer, and must not get involved (too much) in one's life/problems

Both shows share a lot of similarities: - the main character is female who sets out on a long journey around the world; - most of the story immersed in the lore of the world; - main genre is road movie in both shows.

Both anime are about a girl traveling arround the world.

I feel like the closest comparison you can get to Kino's Journey is Elaina's. The series both share the same storyline of "traveling girl goes to different countries and observes their customs while maintaining a neutral perspective and not interferring". The countries and people she meets serve as metaphoric equivalents of real life human nature and the episodic stories revolve around the circumstances of the characters she meets rather than the MC herself.

They are both episodic anime and have a lesson to be learned Kino no Tabi is more about the world where as Majo no Tabitabi is about her as a person but they are still similar.

Both have female protagonists who travel to different countries and have varied experiences. Both show a variety of people, cultures and traditions Both show their respective heroines get into and out of pinches, growa nd change based on the things they see on their travels. Both the women are fun and intriguing characters. Both are mostly composed of single episode stories Even though they sound extremely similar, the setting and the individual stories make them vastly different too.
