Set during what is the beginning of a world war, the protagonists of those are powerhouse of military/fighting strenght with a curious set of morals which leads to them commiting ethically questionable acts by current standards.
Both are based on WWII and paint the axis as a good guy

Both anime features a main character who wanted peace but later understood the only way to achieve peace is to fight, reckless in their behavior. The plot is also about the war against all other nation, being the bad guy themselves.
When all morale is lost to the point where right or wrong are no longer questions that are black and white. When characters are so full of themselves, they are the only ones in question, caring about literally none other than their main goal at hand. A goal so questionable, you would have thought the two were devils in human bodies.
Both Saga of Tanya and AOT FS are heavily based on military, and the short and long-term effects they give off. Some effects of which are not to be underestimated.
