I am not recomending "Dog Days" to those who like "Zero no Tsukaima", but recomending "Zero no Tsukaima" to those who like "Dog Days". Yes, there have been a lot of comparisons to the two, because they happen to have male main characters summoned to another world, but beyond that, they are two very different series. "Zero no Tsukaima" is better plot wise and uses humor much better, not to mention has really good characters.

Our "Hero" who is living his daily life get's summoned by a girl from a different world in order to fight for/with her.

In both the protagonist is an ordinary boy who is summoned by a pink-haired girl in a fantasy world.

Both guys are about the same age and had a normal dandy life and are "summoned" by a chick with pinkish hair. Aside from that, the guys in each are walking and all of a sudden are falling from the sky and land in a fancy shmancy world that has a war. Well, Zero no Tsukaima's war comes later on. But you get the picture. Oh, and both anime have a super major uber nice princess.

Both series involves a main protagonist who is dragged into another world where he has his life changed forever. Both series contain plenty of battles mixed in with action, comedy, drama, and later romance. Both series has fantasy themes that are considered more lighthearted with some ecch in the mix. Both series' main protagonist also has similar personalities in terms of valor and charisma.

Both protagonists get sent to a different world that they dont know. The diffrence is that in zero no tsukaima he can actually kill people but in dog days when you hurt someone they turn into a cat (round ball)

Similar stories about summoners and invocations. The relationship between the summoner and the invocation will evolve in the story.

In both, a human boy is summoned to another world where magic and mythical creatures exist, to fight for a little pink haired girl. Of course, they are not exactly the same. Dog Days is more friendly (They "play" wars where nobody can die or get hurt), and has a lot (A LOT) more fanservice. Also, it's more comical than dramatical. So: if you liked one, you'll probably like the other one and get a change in atmosphere at the same time.

These two anime have a lot of similarities, although the biggest similarity is how the lead male character is introduced into the story. I personally didn't like Zero no Tsukaima at all, although I did enjoy Dog Days. Those of you like me who weren't impressed with Zero no Tsukaima should give Dog Days a try. It's a bit slow at first, but it gets pretty interesting.

All I have to say is it's the non sadist, slightly less tsundere version of Zero no Tsukaima. Plot development is comparatively slow and the main character has the same type of a shallow characteristic as Saito, but even less realistic. He's also not a pervert, well, in a sense compared to other anime protagonists xD

In overall, there are many things, it would be hard to name just one of them, so if you like Zero no tsukaima, watch this show. You should not regret it. I hope.
