This show is still as ugly as sin. I'm not hating on the show: I loved the first two seasons. Objectively speaking, it is impossible for any experienced anime viewer to say that this show actually looks good visually. The key frames are consistently static and It is a rare occurrence that you actually see any animation asides from lip flaps and the constant. sliding. of. the. camera. This season is literally a sliding powerpoint presentation. If the show actually had even decent animation this wouldn't bother me so much. The art is the absolute worst part of this half of the third season.

Four things: I don't want to sound edgy and am not hating on this because it's popular. I'm being honest. I loved the first two seasons. This third season is proof that a studio can really dumb down significantly the plot/thematics and everything else and the fans will still love it to death. This show has become as ugly as sin. At first I didn't mind the change in character design, since it made the characters look a bit older. However, it clearly shows that in basically every single shot except for detailed close-ups, the characters look significantly worse than in prior seasons. Also the animation ...

It's important to know the context of this series and to know at least who Hideaki Anno when watching this. Of course, it isn't and shouldn't be required, and can be enjoyed as a light commentary on otaku lifestyle and can be enjoyed as a nice laugh.
For one, it's absolutely criminal that this series has such a low rating. (probably rated so low by ignorant idiots who hate anything unconventional.) This anime accomplishes exactly what it set out to do: accentuate and describe Hideaki and Moyoco Anno's married life for a few laughs (if not tons of them).
