Uh, it's a decent show. It's probably at least worth checking out the first episode or so to see if you like it. You probably wouldn't want to buy it though.
Congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, what sort of job did you get, like what's your position?
Yeah, I need to buy the rest of the Bandai stuff I want, but I just made a huge Funimation order due to the recent Funimation sale on Right Stuf, so I don't know how fast I can be, haha.
If you're having an interview on Friday, then is it not a sure thing yet?
As for Phi-Brain, I watched the first episode way back when it first aired and I thought it was pretty awesome, haha. I like the idea of all the puzzle craziness. I've been waiting for a Sentai to put it on a Blu-ray, which is why I haven't watched any more of it.
What was wrong with your MacBook? My sister had to send hers in a week ago because there was something wrong with the motherboard.
When I was talking about the art, I meant the "other world" stuff. The TV series spends more time in the other world and there's some good action scenes, so that's why I was saying if you liked the art, you might at least enjoy that part of the TV series.
The OVA is okay, but it's not fully realized. The TV series does a much better job presenting the story, but I thought the characterization in the TV series was overwrought and haphazard. I'd say the TV series is at least worth checking out if you like huke's artwork.
Paying monthly for the Anime Network seems like a small price to pay for a better job, haha.
I have that show, but I haven't watched it yet, haha.
Recently I finished watching Phantom and Monster.
The first two acts of Phantom were pretty great. It had some inconsistencies, but I was able to overlook them. However, act three was a huge pile of shit. It effectively ruined the whole series for me. Part of it is that it doesn't make any sense and it was just a stupid direction for the series.
Monster on the other hand was great overall. It has some of the most incredible moments I've experienced in an anime, but due to the manga it was based off of being serialized, you can tell the author didn't have the whole story in his head before he started writing it. By the end of the show, it loses a lot of mystery, impact, and consistency, but it didn't sour my opinion of the rest of the show. There's really nothing else out there much like it.
Done with Toward the Terra. You were right, haha. It was really good. I had a great time with it. I was worried when you told me it was awesome and I would like it, since I've heard that before several times and ending up disliking a show, like Katanagatari, haha. However, my worries were unfounded.
There were some inconsistencies that bothered me, but they didn't ruin the experience. Things like the the Mu suddenly finding love, haha. Just seems weird after all this time, the guys and girls suddenly start having feelings for each other after Jomy says something.
Also, I didn't really understand Keith's intentions and motivations. It really seemed like a lot of bloodshed could have been avoided. I liked Keith in the beginning, but as he developed, I grew more and more distant and ending up disliking him. However, there are moments in the show where it hints that Keith never lost his humanity and his fearless, intimidating self was just a shell. Why did it take him all the way until the end to realize he was being controlled by Mother and Grandmother? And what exactly sparked that revelation for him? It's not like he hasn't seen Jomy's power before. He had so many chances before to free himself earlier, but he never did. I'm just really conflicted with his character, haha.
It's basically what I use all my free time for, haha. I switch it up and play games too. Speaking of which, I just beat Arkham City, which was amazing.
Sket Dance is really good. I hear it's sort of like Gintama. It's about a club that goes around helping people. It's mostly a comedy, but it also has some serious moments that work amazingly well.
I didn't like Katanagatari. Each episode is almost an hour long, and most of that hour is full of meaningless, mostly non-funny dialog — it tries to be funny, but it's usually not. I thought it was pretty boring and the ending was mostly dumb. I'd compare it to Bakemonogatari, which is another show that completely hinges itself on dialog. Unsurprisingly enough, Katanagatari and Bakemonogatari are written by the same person, Nisio Isin. Once you've seen one of his works, you'll see what I mean by meaningless dialog — it's his signature style and it's terrible.
As for how I watched it, yeah, I have the NISA Blu-rays.
Kokoro Connect is really damn good. It started off pretty interesting, but with each episode the show gets better and better. The latest episode was incredible and it's what brought the show up from being just good to fantastic.
By the way, you'll probably be happy to hear that I'm planning on starting Toward the Terra this week, haha.
I'm done with Towa no Quon. It ended up being a pretty big letdown for me. There's just nothing about it that stands out. Also, I thought the ending was lame.
Actually, A-Channel isn't a vehicle for selling music, haha. I'm not sure why each episode has an insert song, but that's just how it is. You can only get that music from the Japanese Blu-rays of the show; you can't buy it separate.
I think I'll start Toward the Terra after I finish Katanagatari, if you insist so much, haha.
You know, I actually have that, haha. I probably should watch it.
I noticed you've been watching Towa no Quon, as have I, haha. What do you think so far? I haven't really enjoyed it all that much. I had high hopes for it, but it's just not remarkable at all and the format of the episodes so far is "monster of the week."
You also finished A-Channel, I see. I'm a pretty huge A-Channel fan, haha. For some reason, that show struck a chord with me. I really enjoyed the characters and the humor. It looks like you rated it a six, so I'm guessing you didn't care for it as much as I did, haha?
I can understand not being allowed to turn off subtitles during the Japanese language track, since that's used as a deterrent for reverse importation, but not being able to have the subtitles on during the English track? That's really weird.
My best guess is that is also being used as a deterrent for reverse importation. Whatever it is, I'm certain not being allowed to have subtitles on was a mandate by the Japanese licensors.
It's one of the many things we have to deal with, since the US and Japan are in the same Blu-ray region.
It's good. I wouldn't say it's great or anything, but I've enjoyed my time with it so far. I don't like live action sports, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if it does soccer justice, but soccer is a big focus of the show, alongside the development of the characters.
The show is at an interesting point right now, since the team the main characters are up against is actually proving to be their toughest challenge yet. It's nice that as the show progresses and as the main team progresses through their tournament, that their opponents get more and more difficult.
One thing though about the show that is actually quite bad and funny at that, is the dramatic music that plays during some shocking events. The jingle doesn't fit AT ALL, and it's hilarious because of that, haha.
Uh, it's okay. I don't see why people are so enthralled by it. It's not what I expected and it's not what I want out of this kind of show. It's just too light, fluffy, and silly. Also, the story arcs aren't that interesting, and there's no overarching storyline. They're pretty serious about the realism of space, but I feel like the lightheartedness of the story doesn't fit the setting.
I explained this better before to someone on Twitter, but Twitter doesn't let me search far enough back.
It's at least worth a try. You might enjoy it more than me.
I actually own that show, haha, but it's good to hear that it's actually enjoyable.
As for Eyeshield 21, I've been wanting to watch it, but I haven't picked up Sentai's releases yet. I guess I could watch it on Crunchyroll, but I think it's one of those shows I might want to own.

How far are you moving?

As for companies not finishing releases, Viz pissed me off the most. I want the rest of Monster, dammit!
