Haiku Review:
Underrated Show
Code Geass Meets Ginga Eiyuu
Go Read Light Novels
MAL won't allow only the Haiku, so I'll put in a useless explanation that you don't need to read.
Alderamin is a military show about the military genius Ikta Solork and how he becomes known as the Invincible Lazy General. Code Geass parallel comes from the relationship of Ikta with Yatori as well as the obvious military aspects of the show, but Ikta is no Lelouch. If anything, he shares more similarities with Yang Wen Li of Ginga Eiyuu/LOTGH.
While the anime is a great standalone adaptation, knowing that it is made by MADHouse and the way
...
the adaptation chooses to relay major plot events are two great clues that it will never get a second season. It is a giant advertisement for the Alderamin light novel, and great pity that it is merely an advertisement because of how well done it is. For that reason, I cannot recommend the show as a complete story, though for those willing to watch a 4 hour ad for a light novel, this is a very entertaining one.

If you ever have the fantasy of taking a tour to somewhere unknown, not having to worry about money, future, where to go, or in general literally anything, this is the show for you.
Many people here seem to think this show is trash, and while I completely agree that the show is bad for specific reasons, I think they are missing the point. Death March isn't an Isekai anime, it's a Travel Documentary with lolis. More than likely, you're not going to watch Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown or the YouTube channel Abroad in Japan and start criticizing about why they aren't starting with $0
...
dollars and having no experience in navigating the area, or questioning why they are given access to certain places that might be more restricted.
The show doesn't want any difficulties or conflicts, because at its core it is about sightseeing and relaxation. There is a reason why some say Death March is a cooking anime. Back at the start of my review is the EXACT fantasy of our overworked main character's and a lot of overworked office workers'; to completely relax and not give a care about anything.
You SHOULD feel that the first 10 minutes of Episode 1 to be relatable in some way. If it is not, or if you dislike Travel Documentaries, and find the idea of not having to worry about anything appalling, this show isn't for you.
My number scores don't really mean anything. Objectively speaking, numbers are a pretty bad way to judge this kind of shows that only target a very specific audience.

At a glance, K would appear to be a light-hearted super-power action series. However, that is the main flaw of the 1st season. K's 1st season is very much focused on the mystery of ''Who is the main character?'', but the opening episodes failed to set the tone for the main plot, instead moving the story around in circles. While clues were given for the mystery, the failure to set the tone would make the viewer NOT look for said clues, and instead focus on the pretty animation. It is a pity, too. The mystery itself is rather good, and makes sense. To fully enjoy
...
the story of K, one must be patient as the story only becomes clear after half of the season. If you are not the patient type, this anime is definitely not for you.
As the focus was not on the setting, there was also the unsatisfactory feeling left by the rather poor explanation of the setting. Why is the white haired girl so different? Why do these people has powers? Why is Neko such a strange existence? How does the King gives the powers? Many questions were not explained, and from the series' point of view, it might not be hard to see why. This is a series that instead forces its viewers to infer from what is shown, and to actively seek out the other mediums that are about to be released. As a standalone 13 episode, the setting doesn't make sense.
The many colour factions also means that K has a huge cast of characters. While characters were given distinct personalities, the 13 episode length also meant that there wasn't enough time to develop any of them. This is especially true for the Red and Blue factions. Merely a glimpse of their relationship were shown. Clear evidence that the 1st season of K is just a jump start to other mediums. The manga and light novels cover the story for the Red and Blue factions.
Of course, while the story itself is rather flawed in the way it was presented, the anime has its redeeming points. The animation of K looks good. Although i do not particularly like the choice of using an overly shiny colour palette. EVERYTHING on screen literally shines. Even the CGs that are present are made even more obvious because of the shine. This is ,however, just personal preference. To some the shiny colour palette may instead serve to make it look prettier.
If you are to watch K, be mindful that K is more than just a 13 episode anime. It is a series that requires you to read the manga and light novels if you want
to know more. Considering that there are still colour factions not shown AND a second season, it is probably safe to say that K will try to expand its universe and far as possible. Otherwise, K's 1st season as a standalone would just be eye-candy, with a mystery that doesn't hit until clearer signs were shown.

Ever imagined what happens to Yagami Light if he doesn't pick up the Death Note?
BtOOB! (not a typo), is the story of a 22 year old NEET. 5 years ago, Yagami Light picked up the Death Note, only to find out that it is, in fact, a hoax. As a result of failing to rid the world of criminals, Light's father was buried by the Police forces' busy work schedule. His parents then divorced due to the neglect of the family, with his mother remarrying to another male. In the chaos of the family disputes, Light, bored of life and no longer inspired by
...
his father to continue pursuing to be a Police Officer, found himself the MMO BtOOB!.
Present time, Sakamoto (his new surname) Light is the top Japan player for BtOOB!. Being in a totally different family environment allowed him to hone his skills as a gamer, using his innate genius for psychological warfare to rise through the ranks in the MMO quickly.
...and that is the untold synopsis of BtOOB!, which would have made the anime much more awesome if that were true. This anime, in actuality, is disappointing.
BtOOB! (still, not a typo) is a typical island survival series with many problems.
It is a series you might enjoy if you are willing to look pass the fact that :
a) physics in this world is shit.
Right from episode 1, you are introduced to bombs that explode RIGHT IN YOUR FACE, but yet are unable to scathe you in anyway unless it is convenient for the plot. The characters in this show prove themselves to be super human, as you often see them escaping bombs at point-blank that are shown to blow off the walls and entire floors, without a scratch. Despite being a NEET, Sakamoto has seemingly unlimited stamina and is able to perform athletic stuns that even normal people can't do. Like, jump off a wall to a hole in the ceiling and climb up. Then use one hand to pull a full grown woman off the lower floor!
Also, BIM that bounces off BOOBs.
b) ALL the names of side characters and antagonists come from olden days Japan, because the only way to find names for them is to look through a Japanese history book
GAME TIME! Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Btooom! and look at the list of antagonist and side characters. NOW GUESS WHICH JAPANESE HISTORICAL FIGURE IS HE/SHE?
Answers:
Taira Kiyoshi ----> Taira no Kiyomori
Masashi Miyamoto ---> Musashi Miyamoto
Nobutaka Oda -----> Nobunaga Oda
Masahito Date ---->Masamune Date
Hidemi Kinoshita ----> Toyotomi Hideyoshi (also known as Kinoshita Tokichiro)
Kinoshita + Hide
Yoshiaki Imagawa -----> Yoshimoto Imagawa
Yoshihisa Kira ----> Shimazu Yoshihisa
Anime char is father of Kosuke Kira, so he changed the
surname to fit.
Mitsuo Akechi ----> Many from the Akechi clan, all names go by
Mitsu(insert) Akechi
Shiki Murasaki ----> Shikibu Murasaki (only character with different Kanji)
Isamu Kondo ----> Isami Kondo
Misako Hojo -----> Masako Hojo
..... and the list goes on. Characters are given these names for absolutely no reason, nor is the setting in anyway related to these historial figures. No references to the lives of these historical figures were made, so we can only assume that the Japanese history books were the author's sole source material to create names. In which case, i am interested to know the name of his/her children, considering that the author's Surname is the same as the Inoue clan.
c) Despite being a psychological game, characters are stupid and tricks used are too simplistic to be interesting.
Placed in a survival island, you would expect to see psychological tricks similar to those seen in Death Note. Especially when interesting varieties of BIMs are introduced. Poison gas BIMs are shown to destroy large quantities of forest life and corrode whole human bodies, but the only strategy shown was ''throw it there! the wind is blowing that way!''. Remote control bombs are present,
but where they are placed make you question the intelligence of the character. (Seriously, under a pile of wooden planks that stands out in an abandoned building?) Even the basic impact-exploding BIM feels useless due to the fact that characters are never hurt unless it works for the plot.
Many other problems can be found in this anime. Truthfully, it was only enjoyable because of the many problems it had, and i'm tired of listing them after the above wall of text. It is like playing ''spot the mistake'', but over 12 25 minute episodes.
