Black Clover is as generic shonen as it can get, on the same level as Fairy Tail in my opinion. If you're a teenager who haven't read Naruto or Bleach yet, you might find something interesting with Black Clover. The main character is as bland of a perfect, innocent main character as shonen can give you. The battle system is non-existent here. All the schools of spells that exist practically have nothing interesting in them. Short version: completely turn your brain off, it's a very decent manga.
The manga starts off as very unrealistic and shallow, but as I slowly accept the rules of the world that's been building, I came to enjoy the gore and torture that the main character put his victims through. If you can accept how unrealistic the Jojo worlds are, there's no problem accepting this one. If you like gore and satisfying revenge stories, this is definitely the manga for you. I just got through the time skip and it got a big boost in quality. Story: 6/10 nothing special, but acceptable. Art: 8/10 very well drawn and ...

The manga started very promising and unique. To unravel the mysterious symbols that represented the supporting character's past was very clever and satisfying. The movement of the homunculi were very fluid and interesting for each representation. All characters were very well though out and multi-dimensional. However, when we've come to the main character's own personal history towards the end, the pace felt very slow and repetitive and the ending very meh for the tension that's been built up. It just didn't come all together at the end, and it left me wondering what the entire story was supposed to leave me know or understand.
