Ah...the fate series. How I love your interesting conflicts, engaging fight scenes, character development and your obsession with rule 63ing every character that is supposed to be a dude, am I right Rider of Black? (seriously why is this a thing?!)
Though in all serious Fate/Apocrypha is the newly finished installment of the Fate Series Adaptations that have been produced so far. It is a spin off of the original Fate/stay night and despite being set in an alternate universe, it still follows the basic principals of having various master's being selected by the ultimate wish granting device, the Holy Grail, and summoning a Heroic Spirit
...
(a real, mythical or fictional character that possesses great infamy). But there is a twist, instead of the traditional 7 servants & masters there are now 14 servants & masters respectively that are divided into two sides, the Red Faction and the Black Faction, that now must battle to the death to decide which side gets there wishes granted! Honestly, it isn't much of twist as it actually makes it harder to get to know the characters when there are 28 of them and the show runs for 25 episodes...that wasn't exactly the greatest decision to make in production. However, despite this Fate/Apocrypha is at least a rather enjoyable anime for any person who has seen previous Fate anime's over the years and at worst, the second worse fate anime after the Fate/Grand Order OVAs (imao). But is this show truly a good fate anime, we shall now examine.
(WARNING SPOILERS MAY BE IN THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED).
Story: 6
As said before, the series mainly revolves around the conflict between the Red and Black Factions as they fight to use the Grail for their own respective means, but this does not mean its setting up for an actual battle-fueled story...rather there is a lot of talking. SO MUCH TALKING. Aside from all the exposition (which is typical in fate anime), the first few episodes (like from 1-5) are basically setup for the two leads of this show Ruler (get to more on her later) and perhaps the most hated fate m.c. since Mr. People Died When They Are Killed Emiya, the Sieg, to actually encounter each other and foreshadowing a rather forced and dumb romance between the two. The fact that there are 28 characters also drags the story down because given the shows 25 episode-span some characters get very little actual screen time or importance or development during the runtime (especially Saber of Red/Mordred and her master in the second part of the show). But perhaps the main problem with this story is that it isn't accessible to a wider audience, this show would only really work with people who had seen previous fate adaptations in order to understand what is happening because despite all the mountains of exposition characters deliver, a newbie would not understand what the fuck is going on. The story relies heavily on the assumption that people watching this having also looked up who these characters are and their backstories otherwise characters doing something or going crazy or pulling some shit on another character makes no sense - especially concerning the actions of Archer of Red, Atalanta, in the second cour as well as Asian Jesus-Kun (like legit Shirou Kotomine is Asian Jesus). On a more positive note, episodes 8-12 and 20-23 are some of the best the show has to offer in regards to animation, action, development and story. The ending of the show is also not a traditional happy ending but one that is riddled with consequences and impacts over the shows history especially for plot-armor kun and Ruler. But the show should be good all round not just those few moments. However, this is still perhaps the weakest Fate story that has been produced thus far (especially when compared to the original Light Novel it was based off).
Art/Animation: 8
Ahh A1 Pictures...how we keep falling in and out of love with each other. Whilst this definitely isn't ufotable animation levels of beautiful, A1 Pictures did a mostly good and consistent level of quality of animation throughout the entire run of Apocrypha. And whilst there were moments that looked cheaper and definitely lackluster when compared to other fate anime, no one can deny that episode 22 of Fate/Apocrypha was not an amazing, intense, enjoyable and beautiful spectacle that was clearly where most of the budget was put in towards. The characters move fluidly, noble phantasms are stunning and art is spectacular as we view the weight and struggle each of the characters endure. The consistency of this show's animation is what helps makes this show truly enjoyable and is only aided by the shows great soundtrack.
Music/Sound: 8
Another great aspect of the fate series is the almost always brilliant soundtrack. And whilst the OST for Apocrypha isn't the best of the series, it still provides hype and adds to the epic moments that are delivered by the show especially in the Karna vs Sieg fight or the Archer of Black vs Rider of Red fight.
The Openings for this show do split me however, I hated the first opening and after hearing it in the 1st & 2nd episode I skipped it each time. I like Egoist but I felt that their song was a poor choice for the series, the second opening performed by Lisa was much better and made watching the show easier. The endings were both okay and suited the show well, though they are nothing really special in comparison - not bad but not good.
Character: 6
Sieg / Homunculus - People don't died when they are killed...TWICE!
Ruler/ Joan of Arc - An interesting female lead...that falls in love because WHY?!
Darnic Prestone Yggdmillennia - Dude is hella old, looks young...makes sense.
Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia - Is useless and does nothing except be more useless.
Fiore Forvedge Yggdmillennia - Why we get so little development other than exposition WHY?!
Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia - Psycho, Sadistic bitch gets beheaded. Show is instantly better.
Roche Frain Yggdmillennia - Master students bonds aren't always fun little boy.
Caules Forvedge Yggdmillennia - Why are you here again? Oh right exposition...
Reika Rikudou - I'd always wanted a killer for a daughter :)
Saber of Black - An interesting character who's past- and he's dead in episode 4.
Archer of Black - Master students bonds = best fist fight ever!
Lancer of Black - No one show him twilight or we all die!
Rider of Black - Not Best Fate Girl (FIGHT ME!)
Caster of Black - Hates human interaction (1st anti-social person).
Berserker of Black - Sacrifice's ain't worth shit to plot armor.
Assassin of Black - WHY IS IT A LOLI?! WHY?!
Kairi Sisigou - WHY AREN'T YOU OUR MAIN CHARACTER?!
Shirou Kotomine - Asian Jesus-Kun, nuff said.
Other Red Masters - WE R SO FUCKING HIGH RIGHT NOW.
Saber of Red - Attempted Kamikaze attack - instant best girl.
Archer of Red - best girl until stupid plot drove her over the edge.
Lancer of Red - ah, this dude would totally destroy Gilgamesh.
Rider of Red - Why aren't you in more fate shit you beautiful man!
Caster of Red - Only there because plot.
Berserker of Red - Broke the berserker oath of not talking, he must DIE!
Assassin of Red - Only wanted that Jesus-kun 'D'
In all honesty, most of these character's didn't really get much development and only a few such as Rider of Black (who I didn't even like that much) got decent screen time apart from the main characters of Ruler & Sieg and the main antagonist, Shirou. A lot of character motivations would also be confusing if you've never heard about their legend, past or looked up fate/lore either.
Enjoyment: 7
Despite all my somewhat bashing and criticism of the show, I find it really enjoyable. As a Fate lover, I was happy to get something slightly different then the typical set up found in F/SN or Fate/Zero. But as a reviewer, I can only say that I'd say this show is truly enjoyable for experienced fate viewers or someone who has at least seen UBW or F/SN otherwise be prepared for a lot of confusion in a lot of places.
Fate/Apocrypha is definitely not the best fate anime. Its story is definitely weaker than most and so are many of its characters due to a small runtime of 25 episodes of approx. 22 minutes each. However, despite not being amazing it is still got great animation, consistent music that highlights the good scenes greatly and is definitely one I'd recommend for any devote fate fan. But if you're knew to this series, watch at least F/SN before coming back and experiencing a 'decent' fate anime.

D Gray Man Hallow is a hard show to recommend. In one case it is a blessing to the D Gray Man fans that desired a sequel to the show following the climatic end of the last series. However, for viewers that watched the anime only it might seem as a bit of a disappointment.
Story: 8/10. Prior to this shows announcement, I read the D Gray Man manga and realized that their are elements of the story that the anime series ignored or replaced with filler. I felt more attached to the story of the manga after reading it and watching the original show over,
...
so I have a long for the story that D Gray Man Hallow is telling (as it is one of my fav Arcs) but when removing my bias, I can see why people won't like the story of the anime. It kinda jumps all over the place in the early episodes rushing through story arcs in order to get to the main story that lasts for the majority of episodes before ending with another climatic ending (which is frustrating but understandable as there isn't enough manga material to continue on). But I don think that there is enough enjoyment for both the readers of the manga and the anime viewers to enjoy.
Art: 7/10. D Gray Man has never had amazing animation, it has good animation but never stunning and expensive animation like Ufotable puts outs. It is kinda evident that the show didn't have a large budget during certain scenes early on in the show. However, the show was much more like the manga's designs than the first series was (kinda like how FT 2014 switched to designs like the manga) which was a welcome change to me (though I don't think it was the best choice). Also I do not understand why Allen's hand is suddenly red again when in season 2 of the original show it became black...ugh nitpicking.
Sound 9/10. Nothing much to say here its basically the same soundtrack as the orignal show which is awesome. I do have to say that I enjoyed the opening and ending song of the show as it was the mixture of somber and action packed fights that the show possesses.
Character 7/10. Again, nothing much to say. The characters other than Allen and Kanda don't get much development. But this is likely due to the shows run time of 13 episodes compared to the 103 episodes of the original. If you liked this cast though there really isn't much of an issue, one thing I can say that I liked about this show is that I didn't have to listen to Lenalee's past again (they like repeated it 5 times in the original show, we get it she has a lot of problems with the order before her brother came).
Overall, I can give this show a solid 7.8 or 8 out of 10. Its definitely not perfect and won't appeal to you much if you don't know anything about the show. Yet, its a love letter to the fans of the original and perhaps that hints there's more to come.

Fairy 2014 is the second series of anime based off the popular manga Fairy Tail written by Hiro Mashima and continues where the original anime left off. But how well does this adaptation hold up compared to its predecessor...
Pretty damn well actually, with a new animation studio (the one that did the Fairy Tail Movie which was decent) and new material to create this version is pretty much equal to the original.
Story: The one thing that I notice many have issue with this adaptation is where it starts off which is the second part of The Grand Magic Games Arc which wasn't well recieved in
...
any of the versions produced. However, I found that the anime tried to make the arc enjoyable with its stellar animation quality and awesome character moments (+ fan-service if your into that sort of thing...). The whole future subplot is kinda annoying and unnecessary at times but as someone who enjoyed the arc in the manga I understand that liking it is a minority opinion. The second arc - Eclipse Celestial Spirits - is an anime only version which is rather bad and boring for the second arc of the anime but their are some funny moments that made me laugh but the writing was never really polished or the 'fights' were rather basic but I knew that they were saving all of their talent for the next part of the anime - Taratarous. This Arc was perhaps one of the most beautiful, well acted and emotional parts of any Fairy Tail season produced. The Arc didn't shy away from some of the darker themes (such as torture) or even character deaths as not only villains but good guys died to (I won't spoil who). All characters were involved and had something to do with a few members from the other guilds making an appearance. Finally, the anime ended with Fairy Tail Zero which is 10 episodes of the origin of Fairy Tail and its first master Mavis Vermillion (who is so adorable) and the other two were the set up episodes for a new journey staring Natsu, Lucy and Happy. The arc was obvious filler for the show as they need to allow the manga to get ahead in order to start producing more episodes but it was nice to see it animated and the characters were awesome to watch but that damn cliff-hanger ending that hints at another season...in 2017 (FUCK!!!!!) - 8/10
Characters: Basically the same as the old anime with a bit more development and whilst I dislike some characters most of the cast is as fun loving as usual. The anime also hints at a few blossoming relationships that may be ignited *Ahem* GALE *AHEM* - 8/10
Art: Whilst I thought that the three main arcs were animated beautifully (especially in the fight scenes) I found that the animation in the filler arc and filler episodes was kinda boring and lackluster which possibly showed cracks of a tighter budget - 7/10
Sound: Another beautiful soundtrack that pays homage to the original with some remixes of old tracks and some brand new ones that even show it up! The openings are still amazing with a mixture of slow, calm and serious vs rock, upbeat and fun ones. My personal favorites are opening 18, 21 & 22.
-DUB/SUB: I would have to say to watch the sub for now as the dub isn't completed yet. But both sides to a good job of voicing the characters in all of their glory but I would have to say that the Japanese voice actors do better in the more emotional parts of the serious but the dub (from what I've seen) does better in the comedic areas. - 9/10
Enjoyment: whilst it does have fan service in it and is kinda perverted at times (much like the manga) but it also is a fun-loving and competent adventure/action/drama/comedy narrative with a range of characters that will make you laugh, cry or scream :) - 8/10
Overall: Fairy Tail 2014 is a sequel done right and whilst it has a shaky start, the ending does not disappoint and I can't wait to see more of Natsu and the gang in the future. - 8/10
(Which is 2017 for the anime viewers...but I read the manga to!)

There is no words in the English Language to describe how much I hated this show when it first came out. Sword Art Online is one of those shows that is so popular that it could possibly start a war with on one side the people that adore it and on the other the people that want to kill it with whatever means possible. I was on the 'kill' side when the show finished but after watching it again I actually can find some aspects of the show that are interesting and that helped me enjoy its second season a lot more...but Kirito will never
...
be one of them (in the light novels I have slight respect towards him). Warning their will be slight spoilers in this review because you can't really talk about this show without going into that territory (but nothing major):
Story (4/10): Sword Art Online has an interesting (yet not completely unique idea) setting as the first arc revolves around a large amount of people becoming trapped in the anime's namesake: Sword Art Online - a VRMMORPG - where if you die in the game you die in real life and the only way to beat the game and escape is to defeat the boss on the 100th floor. Thus begins the starting point of our journey where we follow main character Kirito on his journey to meet this challenge head on and might as well collect a harem of girls on his way! This part of the show is actually decent with the first few episodes being surprisingly thoughtful and episode 3 being really emotional due to that looming fact that death could occur at any moment which is the main focus of early episodes. Yet, this is ruined though by countless side stories and time skips that make me feel nothing for most of the other characters in the show as they are in 1 episode and then vanish into obscurity. When this arc finished I was actually satisfied with the conclusion (thinking it to be the end) only to learn that there would be another arc (really...?) which made me hope that it wouldn't ruin the what I thought was an okay story...I was wrong. The second arc is like a massive Fuck You to the viewer...but I can't really say much more about it because of massive spoilers but the overall ending of this season is not bad not great but okay.
Art (9/10): A-1 pictures why did you have to do such brilliant animation for such a mediocre show! You deserve so much better! Honestly though the animation suits the show and the fight scenes are incredibly well done considering this company doesn't do a lot of heavy action shows. The openings and endings were also well animated.
Sound (6/10): Whilst I found the opening songs enjoyable I never hesitated to skip the ending songs unless I wanted to view the animation that was done for them. The OST is composed by Yuki Kajiura who is one of my all time favorites but I am sad to find that I only liked 2 songs on this soundtrack 'Swordland' and 'Luminous Sword' which is ironically basically the themes of two characters that I hate! But otherwise the songs didn't really get be pumped up like it did with the Fate/Zero Soundtrack or Madoka Magica one which is kind of sad (but we all have our opinions). I rather watch the show in Japanese because I feel like that version expresses what emotions that the characters have better than the dub. Also I am sick of hearing Bryce Papenbrook in every anime dub I watch...because all I can hear when he voices a character (like Eren from AOT or Shirou from F/SN: UBW)is...fucking Kirito.
Characters (5/10): This is going to be fun *evil laugh*
Main:
-Kirito: We see the story through his eyes and yet he does not make any real progression in terms of character except that his is an OP Solo Player (which is impossible!) and that he attracts girls just because the story demands it so. However he does fight amazingly and does stuff unlike another certain male lead from another popular anime series (...do ya hear me Guilty Crown! Sword Art Online wrote a better male lead than you and yet I still think you are the better anime) but he also in love with the female lead (who I also hate).
-Asuna: creators...why did you ruin this person. She was hyped up in the first episode she was introduced to appear as a strong and capable despite being a beginner in the game. Then we see her a few episodes later after time skips and she has become a unlikable annoying tsundere that only cares about Kirito. She also is basically Princess Peach for the entire second half...
Others: They are all more enjoyable than the two main characters combined. They have interesting personalities and all the girls deserve Kirito way more than Asuna does!...except Leafa because of reasons...that appear in the second half that I can't mention because of spoilers.
Overall (6/10): As much as I hate on this show along with some of my friends I have to admit that the show is not terrible but its not a masterpiece like some people make it out to be. Its an average show which got a more enjoyable sequel which it did not deserve but its worth watching once to make your choice if its good or bad.

This anime was one of the few that really kick-started my love for anime in general. Though many see it as a half-arsed adaptation of Type-Moon's Visual Novel 'Fate/Stay Night' following the shows amazing prequel Fate/Zero and 2014-2015 brilliant adaptation Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade/Budget Works which makes me rather upset.
Story: The story is set around the basis is that there is this event called the Holy Grail War where servants or heroes of the past, present and future come together to fight for their masters (usually who are Mages) that summoned them to the current timeline to fight for possession of an object known
...
as the Holy Grail which is said to grant any wish proposed to it. The servants and masters fight in the style of a battle royale. The grail has appeared for the fifth time, and now the Grail War takes place in Fuyuki City, Japan with our main hero and Heroine being Shirou Emiya and Saber. Whilst the overall premise of the story is good and fresh...it’s not really a battle royal since every few episodes a new servant/master pair appear and challenge our main heroes Shirou Emiya and his servant Saber (Atoria/Arthur Pendragon) through various means that are either confusing or predictable. They are the main characters so of course they should always be the victor, plot armour 101 ladies and gentleman! Magic was also not clearly explained in this story as it spent way too much time explaining what exactly the Holy Grail War is and how it works (exposition in this story gets up to extreme levels of OMG WHOULD YOU GET ON WITH IT ALREADY!). But! This show is actually really well paced and is not afraid to show some dark imagery or tear-jerking moments as the show carries on through its 24 episode run time. The fight scenes were also well connected not random like some other anime and also connected aspects of humour or unexpected sadness.
Animation: The animation was done by studio deen in 2006, so no it does not live up to the animation of today but for its time the animation was great especially in the fight scenes. However, the one thing that we all can agree on that was complete dog shit animation was that CGI dragon (never do that again).
Sound: whilst the music for the show is basically remixes of the visual novels music I found myself quite found of it especially of the main characters titular theme ‘Emiya’ which has since been redone so many times. But the shows two openings and endings were rather unmemorable and quite skippable after a few times of watching them.
Character: When first watching this anime I fell in love with most of these characters instantly, I loved their mannerisms, their appearances, their actions and how they were involved in the story and to some extent I still do. Rin is probably still one of my favorite characters in any anime which extended to the 2014-2015 anime and Archer and Saber are still awesome but my favorite character is Gilgamesh (who is also my fav male anime character of all time). Yeah he is incredibly overpowered and was introduced very late in the story and he acts like such an asshole but I...Love...IT! His cocky attitude makes him the perfect counter to the normal calm Saber which is especially shown in the final battle but honestly to understand why he is so amazing. But like so many others I really disliked Shirou...I found his 'I want to save everyone' attitude stupid and that one stupid FAIL translated dialogue "People die when they are killed" made me wish someone would just stab him and say "Yes Shirou. Yes they do". However I did like his progression from somewhat of a lackluster mage to semi-competent along with his relationship with Saber and Rin (so their is something positive about that guy).
Enjoyment: You would enjoy this the most if you have not watched Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works 2014-2015 since the animation is nothing compared to what Ufotable has done with it and you don’t have any major spoilers already given to you (especially with Fate/Zero). It is also in my opinion a very well done starting anime for any people just getting into anime as it incorporates many different tropes that are typical in anime.
Overall: Do I think Fate/Stay Night is shit? No. Do I think Fate/Stay Night is amazing? No. I think that for the first adaption of the now infamous Fate Series that it was well done and enjoyable to sit through (despite Shirou’s immense stupidity and that damn CGI dragon). It the best entrance into the series along with a good gateway anime. The animation is still good and the music is great. Whilst some parts are dumb others can make you cry out in despair at the reality that these characters are living in. along with a satisfying conclusion…Fate/Stay Night is one anime that should be viewed and not judged for its successful follow ups. If your looking for an anime to get attached to then this anime was fated to be viewed by you.
P.S. Forgive me that pun was awful

I can not scream enough about how much I hated this movie when I watched it. I had just finished Evangelion and like most people I was annoyed with the ending so when I heard from a friend about the Evangelion movie I thought she was talking about the 'End of Evangelion' but no she was talking about this piece of...well to put it likely shit.
The movie is basically the entire series up to the last 2 episodes but the editing is choppy which makes it look like it was done by a five-year-old and whilst their are some new scenes which are not even
...
worth watching...the movie even gets even better when their is literally a FIVE MINUTE SCENE THAT IS AN INTERMISSION before cutting to the Rebirth section which is and pardon my rage:
THE FIRST THIRTY MINUTES OF THE NEXT FILM ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME YOU MONEY GRABBING MOTHERFUCKERS!!!!!
I apologize for the language, but I really hate this piece of shit and if anyone was considering to watch the series before watching the reboot films, just watch the original episodes and then the end of evangelion to get the full experience.
FUCK THIS MOVIE!
Once again, sorry for the rage.
On the upside, the music is still good like the original series but it barely makes up for the choppy editing, music, story and the art which is barely an improvement of the last few episodes of the original.
Overall: 3/10

I only got into uta no prince sama recently and despite knowing it for a short time, I fell in love with both the characters and the story (I also shipped Tokiya and Haruka really hard - MAKE IT HAPPEN) so when I heard about this season, I was really excited only to become slightly disappointed with the overall show.
Story: Much like the previous seasons, the episodes focus on a certain character and their involvement with Haruka. The show also introduces some new characters that Haruka spends time with as well aside from the main cast of our familiar seven boys. This then comes to
...
a climax with the last few episodes focusing on the group altogether with some hints of romance. In this season however I felt rather unhappy with the overall story and wished that the show had demonstrated it better and I was annoyed with the certain ending this show had.
Sound: This is where Uta no Prince Sama constantly shines! The music in this season for me was incredibly beautiful and enjoyable (with only a few songs that I didn't like quite as much) but I would have to still be disappointed with the ending song of this season when compared to the previous seasons.
Art: Once again A1 Pictures has done a brilliant job with the shows art especially with the character designs. I found myself enjoying all of the sequences in the show such as the music segments which is where I found that the art shined through.
Character: This...this season was pretty lackluster in this department. I hate to say that I found myself a bit annoyed on the lack of focus on certain characters because they needed to focus on characters who were not the MAIN cast! Starish especially received the shaft in this area and I was rather un-pleased with the writers for that.
Enjoyment: I would have to say with much disappointment that this season was my least liked out of the three seasons so far. But if you are a devoted uta no prince sama fan you would probably enjoy this show far more than I did.
Overall: The anime itself wasn't like the previous seasons and lacked the show's typical upbeat attitude that it usually presents itself with. The show also to me was far to focused on the newer character relationships with Haruka rather than the ones we had gotten to know and love. But the show wasn't bad and I found some parts enjoyable.
