First off i'll say this, at the end of the first episode this was my new favorite anime, hands down. That said the anime had a type of gritty art style that alot of people i talk with look for in anime, myself included. The story is one of the best i have followed and really was enjoyable to me. The characters were also very strong in my opinion, they had good personality, and were easily loveable, the main character especially.
