I read other reviews and assumed people are just too uptight; nitpicking at everything and decided to give it a shot. However, that wasn't the case.

The plot accommodated by the violence and profanity piqued my interest, however, the script and overall execution of the story was poorly done. I quickly lost interest a few episodes in and forced myself to sit through the rest.

The main protagonist just annoyed me--whining and crying throughout the entire season, essentially accomplishing nothing. After a couple episodes of that nonsense, it just gave me a headache. No offense to the voice actor, but I hated the main protagonists voice so ... much, it didn't suit how they tried to portray him. As a result, it only added to the negatives of this show.

The only thing I like was the concept of the plot, however, they ruined it with the poorly done screen play and the reveal of what the "game" really is. When they disclose the information on the "game" to the viewer, it's pretty laughable and just pathetic, which is why they ruined any interest in the plot I had.

The characters were so stale and random with their emotions/logic it left me speechless, which is why it was painful to sit through. It made no sense at all and it felt like they desperately tried to force suspense and drama onto the audience, which had the complete opposite effect--leaving you confused, angry and questioning yourself on why you want to finish watching it. Most of the characters didn't feel like characters, they felt almost robotic and lifeless and forced.

Overall it was pretty bad. I'm pretty lenient when it comes to scoring anime, however, I wouldn't recommend watching it. If you decide to do and actually like it, no offense to you or your tastes. To me, it was really awful and I had to force myself through most of it.

Writing this basic, straight-forward review because people tend to discourage me from watching an anime that I actually might end up watching and enjoying with their negative reviews and the scores.

First off, always give an anime a try despite what other people think or feel about it. Who knows, you just might end up liking it. If not, you can always drop it.

5-toubun no Hanayome hits a lot of the requirements for your typical harem. The story was average, nothing much to say that the Synopsis hasn't already; nothing special, but nothing bad either. There are ... little moments/back story in the plot that will probably get you excited as it's revealed to the viewer and not the characters.

There's nothing worse than a voice that doesn't suite the appearance/personality of a character, however, this was not an issue at all. The characters range from different unique personalities and their accompanied voice actor and actresses suites them well. To me, the main character wasn't very masculine, but he does have his moments, so I'll give him that.

The opening and ending songs for me weren't anything special, nothing catchy and I found myself skipping them most of the time when I wasn't too lazy to get up to use my computer. Nothing bad, but really basic. The overall ambient background music wasn't average--in some cases was a good choice for the mood.

Overall, this is your basic type harem with a few twists here and there, accompanied by a different plot. Nothing crazy but nothing bad either. Give it a shot if you like harems you'll enjoy it at the very least, like I did.
