hey! i see you also read light novels, which ones did you enjoy most?
Panku Jan 15, 2014 7:31 PM
I used to read a lot of manga, but I just kind of fell out of the habit. My manga list on here is really messy, so I have it set to private lol. Anyway, I'll just wait for the anime unless I finish all the anime I want & get back into manga.

I think that seeing Kanon first plays into why I think it's better than the other Key anime. I agree about the Makoto arc. That might have been another reason why I liked it so much. Shiori's arc was probably my least favorite from that series.

I just watched both seasons of K-On a couple days ago. I thought it was fun to watch, so I gave them both an 8. I generally give lowers scores for things I find boring or just plain crappy.

That should be fine. I'm still looking forward to it.

I really wanted to like Clannad more, but I felt like I was forcing myself to watch it. The Fuku arc was kind of similar to the Ayu arc in Kanon (which I loved), so I didn't really feel it was that special. I guess I tire of the same old thing. :P

Our compatibility went up to 79.9%. o.o Did you do something? lol
Panku Jan 10, 2014 11:29 PM
Thanks for the heads up. I am definitely planning to watch it now. :3

So the biggest score difference of ours is Clannad. I don't blame you though. Everyone really loves it. I see After Story in people's favorites all the time. Haven't watched it myself though.

I'm actually pretty awful at writing about things I don't have passion for, and almost failed my class because I couldn't come up with a great analysis.
I try to write well at times, but a lot of posts are done on my laptop, (with a shitty keyboard that doesn't capture all of my input) and late at night at that.
I think I've improved my grammar from editing Refrain Subs. Our recent releases definitely look better than our episode 1...

I was going through episode 1 to prepare for our batch release, and I found 40 grammar/phrasing errors that I wanted to change to improve the script.
I just ave some sort of weird passion for Little Busters, despite being upset with the anime. I can write about it all day and can convince a lot of neutral people that my ideas are right.

I've read so many LB blogs and reviews, and I've read every single post that exists on the forums, and I probably have the highest number of posts of any member on the forums. I'd like to think that my opinion is pretty well-versed now.
Back when season 1 was airing, if you look at my comments in the thread, I look like an extremely casual watcher who just ate whatever JC Staff dished out, and was simply excited to see Little Busters even animated. For better or worse, I've changed since then.

I just feel sort of weird or upset when people try to slap garbage evidence in my face and keep telling me the adaptation "isn't so bad".
Just because there's a large audience that would rate it a 10 whether it was done by DEEN, JC Staff, or KyoAni, doesn't mean I care about that audience.
I want people to feel the suffering that the Little Busters go through, and it's just not quite there in the anime to the extent that I believe other producers and studios could've easily achieved.

People say the story structure was a tough thing, but honestly, when you can fill episodes with great comedy and then build up great drama, and when you include the fact that Little Busters already builds itself up with its heroine routes making Riki become stronger, and Rin becoming gradually less shy throughout the VN, I don't see how this is an insanely difficult task to achieve.

People act like Little Busters was some extremely cryptic mess of a story, and that since it wasn't linear, Michiru Shimada and Tonokawa (scriptwriters for LB anime) are devilishly clever for adapting such an amazing interpretation of the common route and heroine arc structure into a more linear story.

There are some great structural ideas, but when the routes' drama and the show's comedy are being mishandled and lessened in impact, this affects the hardcore anime audience that doesn't just "feel" for the Little Busters because they're suffering. People want to see all different ranges of emotions that come naturally, and the anime can't even portray them as well as the VN despite having animation as a way to showcase these emotions. It's insufficient compared to what it could be.

Little Busters takes a lot of effort to adapt, but if you look at the screenplay in Clannad and try to tell me that the emotional portrayal is significantly worse than Little Busters, in the anime or the VNs, and I'll just laugh at you.

Animation being average with JC Staff's adaptation is also a huge issue.
People believes melodrama in Angel Beats because of the adaptation, but they don't believe the bus incident and dream world aspects of Little Busters because they don't think of the characters as realistic with how cardboard cutout they feel.

There's a multitude of problems that will keep Little Busters from reaching the level of believability that it could have it there was better budget, writing, directing.
And to people who say I think the VN is perfect, that's retarded, because most of my ideas for the adaptation include improved interpretation from the VN events that will make the events MORE believable, but the anime proceeds to just do cardboard cutout animations and skip important dialogue instead. There's lost potential everywhere.

Jeez, rant over for now.
