Shoujo anime follow a very basic and straightforward structure, and more often end up feeling way too dramatized and overly-melodramatic for no apparent reason. Orange is slight different in this aspect.
The story of Orange revolves around Naho, a carefree girl in her second year of highschool. She receives a letter on the school opening day. The letter was sent from Naho to Naho 10 years in the past in hopes of her younger self being able to correct the mistakes she once made in highschool. It's up to Naho to correct her past mistakes by saving the new transfer student, Kakeru Naruse, so that he

Compared to most Shoujo, Orange has less drama and some logic which made it a successful summer 2016 anime. Though written poorly, the show hardly gets boring at first. Naho is perfect as the protagonist as her clumsiness and inefficiency to take decisions results in events which keep the show forward. There is a negative side as how boring she is.
Suwa is easily the most likeable and respectable character in the entire story. However, while you can tell that unlike Kakeru, he genuinely cares about his friends' wellbeing, his stance on Naho and Kakeru's relationship is far too idealistic to be real. While his goody-two-shoes persona does make him prevail over the likes of Kakeru, it also makes his character all too stale and predictable. His best moments are easily the ones in which he feels conflicted whether or not to act upon his intuition and snatch Naho for himself instead of undermining his feelings. Unfortunately, they are very few and far in between, as for the overwhelming majority of the show he simply acts as Kakeru's wingman without bothering to intervene. In my perspective, this ruined the character. There is nothing to speak about the other character. Hagita could have been better used in the story as a geek coming up with awesome ideas.
There ending of the story is more Shigatsu wa kimi no uso like. The presentation of "orange" after opening is also similar to Shigatsu wa kimi no uso.
Logically speaking, the poor portrayal of a clinical depressed patient is another downside of this anime. A person with suicidal thoughts should be consulted with a psychiatrist and not by some high schoolers who want no regrets in future stuff. This anime gives the wrong message if children below 15 are to watch it.
Did i enjoy it? Not really. Just a different shoujo anime experience. Shoujo is not my thing. But this a good show. Just watched by my sister's recommendation.
Story: 6/10
Art : 7/10
Sound track : 6/10 Opening is pleasing to hear. Voice acting is ok. Nothing special.
Character: 8/10 Not because Naho is an awesome character, but her clumsiness gives something to show in the anime. In this perspective, Naho is the perfect main Character.
Overall rating: 6.75/10
