Karakuri Zoushi Ayatsuri Sakon

Not sure who copied who, but the settings for the mysteries in the first few story arcs of Kindaichi Shounen and the story arcs of Ayatsuri Sakon are exactly the same. The castle and being stranded in an isolated mountain - all too familiar. But both are good regardless. And the mysteries are different even though the settings are strikingly familiar.

Ergo Proxy

Ergo Proxy, like Kino's Journey shows human psychology through a series of travels. A major difference is that this study of human nature is embedded within a larger plot in Ergo Proxy, while Kino's Journey's main point seems to be the study of human nature. Also, both animes involve a bit of philosophical thinking.

Allen Walker is like a mix between Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric. He has Edward headstrong personality with Al's compassion. He even looks like them (just with gray hair and slightly older). He also has a messed up arm like Ed. The Black Order is very reminiscent of the National Alchemists organization. Any Fullmetal Alchemist fan would love D.Gray-man. The characters are similar, the themes are similar. The difference is that D.Gray-man is going to be a long anime and the storyline is slightly different. A must watch!

Renton and Shingo are very similar in terms of drawing and personality. Both have messy brown hair and green eyes; both influence the other members of the organization. The mechas are both shrouded in mystery. Both leads fall in love with a mysterious girl.

Karakuri Zoushi Ayatsuri Sakon

Another "supernatural" series with an interesting lead character. Supernatural is in quotation marks because Ayatsuri Sakon usually presents mysteries with supernatural clues but always ends up being a person's evil scheme. Much like Ginko, Sakon acts like a detective to unfold very interesting mysteries.

Both deal with the supernatural and both have charismatic lead characters. The drawings in Mononoke will take a little getting used to. Just a little warning, some parts of Mononoke can be quite scary compared to Mushishi.
