As many others have said, this anime is amazing. i read the manga too, because it is finished, but the anime might be a hair better.
the plot starts off with the simple goal of rescuing Falin, then twists and turns into a complex story. the first few episodes feel less exciting, but they are important to build up the characters.
the characters themselves are all amazing and multifaceted. Chilchuck the union leader, divorced dad of 3, and can't admit to
caring about his friends. the cat girl Izutsumi, 60% cat, 40% girl, goes from having warranted trust issues towards everyone to trusting
the main party and being willing ... to compromise. Senshi the chef and dungeon ecologist, comes to terms with his past trauma with
mystery soup. there are many other amazing characters, like Namari, Shuro, Kabru, the Canaries even the side side characters like
the gnomes from Namari's new party. my favorite characters are the italian elf Marcille, who knows dark magic, is absentminded and
has a lot of funny moments, human fighter Laios, lover of monsters, socially akward human fighter, good brother and human/dragon lady
Falin, cleric of the group, has no right to have so many relatable flashback moments, good sister and friend to Marcille.
the animation ranges from great to amazing, bringing the manga to life in an authetic way. you can sort of see which animator animated which sequence, but that only adds to the show imo. another highlight is definitely character and monster designs. the races are all visually distinct and original looking considering they are all common in fantasy.

As many others have said, this manga is amazing. i read it after finishing the anime (s1) so i could see what happens next,
and i wasn't disappointed.

the latter chapters (~70+) are so good i can't help but reread them every time i look at them, they are very exciting. the first
few chapters feel less exciting, but they are important to build up the characters.

the art itself is quite good. there are slightly more impressive mangas like witch hat atelier, but it works well. the highlight is definitely character and monster designs. the races are all visually distinct and original looking considering they are all common in fantasy.
