Taking forever for replying =_=. I am getting old.

I hope you already found some inspirational anime, but if you haven't yet, try watching Kemono no Souja Erin, Cross Game, PLANETES, Toshokan Sensou. All of these shows are really inspiring. And of course Gintama.

If you want something of similar type like Uchuu Kyoudai, then Gin no Saji is pretty golden. And then there is Honey and Clover too, which is remarkable on its own right.

Oh and I would like to recommend one more: Dennou Coil: it has a very good story & sci-fi. You might like it.

Man! to answer you I had to think about it for half an hour and found out that I don't have the answer! Cross Game: such a great masterpiece with reality, people, dream and a great great story, such a great anime in every sphere, I don't think you'll find another anime like this. I think Mitsuru Adachi worked hard, in the same topic again and again and finally made the perfect anime : Cross Game.

After cross game, to watch something similar to it I watched his H2 and Touch, which were quite simialr to Cross Game but not as much great as CG. Touch is quite good, its pretty recommendable, except it might seem a bit slow in the story.

I think you might get the excitement if you watch sports anime, like I did for example: ookiku furikabutte (average good, sports) and One Outs (sports psychological) which are no where near the perfection of Cross Game.

If you were a girl I would have recommended you the romantic shoujo anime Kimi Ni Todoke which has a very pleasant feeling in the story.

There's another anime which I am not sure if you would like: Hanasaku Iroha: it has reality and people.

2 anime I would definitely like to recommend: Chihayafuru' not much sporty, not a great story but I felt the feeling of magic in it. & Nodame Cantabile (Season 1): it has a great story and the characters are freaking good. This one is my most favorite, of course I don't know if you'll love it too. Try at least these 2.

So .... I think you should just give it the anime I mentioned some try, and may be you'll find something you'll like, but not something exactly like CG. Good Luck!

hehe~ with the tons of anime that i saw~ its starting to get hard to remember those anime with good character development... when i think of something, the words "Moe! Moe! Moe!" is messing with my brain... because lately i really don't pay attention to the character development and focus only on character designs and rate them if its entertaining or boring~ (WTF brain!) i think all of Adachi's work has the same char development thats why i didnt get bored while reading some of his manga~ better if you read the manga and ignore the anime XD

yeah Clannad focus only to Tomoya and Nagisa... i want to play the game of it to go for Kotomi route (which is my fave char)

I'll go for Honey and Clover, i love the relationship build-up of all the characters in the series~ good story and i love the comedy. Higurashi no naku koro ni for Horror and great story pacing, it keeps me in the edge of my seat the 1st time i watched it, really love to see cute girls slashing and stabbing each other ...

oh i remember an anime with a good Char development... Legend of the Galactic Heroes! this one is a Great Classic Anime. if you wont get bored in the 1st few episode of it then youll never get bored to it till the end... total of 110 episodes

i really dont want to talk about Cross Game... it always give me an urge to re-watch it ... thats why i hid my Cross Game file in a HDD and lock it up in my closet ... lol XD it so good that i can re-watch it over and over again... i showed ep 1 to a friend of mine and noticed that he's gone... found him outside shedding some tears hahaha~ you should try the other works of Mitsuru Adachi...

is it romance you want? seen Romeo X Juliet and Ai yori Aoshi? or Rom-Com like Itazura na Kiss and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun...

i have many animes on my plan to watch list, but i'll make sure i watch it too :D

i recommend you start with Hyouka, since i prefer Hyouka to Kokoro Connect, but you can watch Kokoro first

for some reason the pics reminded me of Uchuu Kyoudai, altough i know the anime is nothing like that, but i have it on my plan to watch list ^^

hey is Sakamichi no Apollon good? it's been on my plan to watch list for a long time, it looks pretty good but i dunno

yes, hyouka and kokoro connect are similar to each other, the art is really similar, both are misterious animes, both talk about school life, and they're both awesome

in that genre? sorry but no, planetes and uchuu kyoudai are the only animes i know in that genre, but i can give you other anime recomendations, like, Hyouka, Kokoro Connect, Bakuman, and Ano Hana, those are my fave animes
