This shit put me to sleep. Wanting to react to the reviews for this series: just because something has no fanservice, does not mean it is “better written”, or “more realistic” or “more adult”. We have the same trope of some dorky dude getting together with the popular girl, the same trope of the popular girl secretly having health issues and them bonding over something that only the two of them can understand. Namely, sleeplessness. The insomnia itself doesn’t have any ramifications for the characters apart from them feeling like outsiders and falling asleep in weird places. As someone who has a partner who has ... been battling insomnia even since he was a teenager, who literally did night photography every single night during his high school days, this part just didn’t make any sense. Insomnia in real life fucks you up. It makes you hallucinate, reduces your quality of life drastically. It just felt like some edgy shit to bond over in this anime, without any actual consequences, but giving the author a free pass to let them do fun intimate things at night.

I have watched this entire show, and if I would have to describe the characters to you, I would literally not know how to. The guy doesn’t sleep because his mom left him and his dad at night, the girl doesn’t sleep because she is scared she won’t wake up. Personality wise… He is a hard worker and gets frustrated when things don’t work out???? She is very lively and doesn’t want to be pitied because of her health issues???? They both have no interest in stargazing, but develop it for the sake of the plot? It’s all just so basic and dull. I feel like I’ve seen it elsewhere but better. Shigatsu wa kimi no uso, Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai.

Animation is not special at all. OST is basic. Hated the OP & ED.

TL;DR Where are the consequences of insomnia? Where is the spice? If I were 16 and would spend 4 nights alone in a house in the middle of nowhere with ny crush, I would’ve not just pecked the guy on the lips. Honestly, Boku no Kokoro wa Yabai Yatsu was a way more relatable, exciting and fun watch. Characters had more chemistry, and although the fanservice is a bit annoying at times, at least it provides the characters with innuendo without romanticizing a health condition such as insomnia.

I just finished watching FMAB a few minutes ago and I'm seriously blown away. Everything about this anime worked perfectly for me. I loved the story, which was amazingly original and had a very good moral (which I find important). The Characters are original and have great development. There just wasn't a single character I found truly annoying. Edward has become my favorite anime character. The music is really good, although I did miss Tsuisou (Kyoudai/Bratja) from FMA. I loved FMA too, but thought that the story became a little random towards the end. I never had this feeling with Brotherhood, because everything I didn't ... get or found confusing, wasn't part of the story or was explained in a way that I did get it.

FMAB has sad, funny, exciting and even some romantic moments (although not many). It's everything I was looking for in an anime and is absolutely a must watch for every anime/manga fan.
