I love stories—in any media—mainly for the characters, secondarily for world-building (love a good fantasy or sci fi world), and plot comes in probably third or fourth. I also am a sucker for cool action scenes and visual spectacle, but it means a lot more if I’m invested in the characters, the world, or the plot, preferably all three. I don’t care about romance—I am, in fact, basically the definition of aromantic. I like families and friendships and teams and friends-and-teams-as-families. So with that in mind, perhaps you will find something worthwhile in my words, but if your priorities and tastes differ from mine, there’s nothing wrong with that.
I've written a few mini-reviews of some anime on my tumblr and I'll probably bring those over. They're quite short and I try to be as non-spoilery as possible. My aim is to provide just enough information for you to decide whether or not to spend your precious time on the shows I review. I suppose I could do more detailed reviews on this site, but I'm usually too busy writing fanfiction.
Any scores I've given are based solely on my personal enjoyment of the series/movie/manga and are not at all meant to be objective. 10s are shows I would recommend to anyone, whether or not they know anime at all, because I think they're just that good. 9s are in my top personal favorites but might not be for everyone. 8s I love but not quite as much, and etc. Anything 7 or above is recommended for anime aficionados, though. Under that, it's iffier. 6s I'm still watching or intending to watch, but it might be out of being a completionist instead of a true adoration of the series. 5 or less I don't recommend for anyone because I consider it to be a waste of energy that could be spent on better projects, and I regret the time I spent on them.

Have you been studying Japanese too and how long has it been since you last watched Cowboy Bebop?
A semitomboy that I haven't seen in years may have been born and raised in Indiana. She told me that she learned Japanese decades ago before she married a Chinese man. Must be nice for couples to watch anime together. That same semitomboy probably watched the recent Gundam SEED movie without subtitles.
Speaking of Japanese, I had to learn the language arduously for Silent Möbius QD and Wild Arms 2's original script (can't expect anything good from Sony).
