Studio Sunrise animated both of them. Shinji Tkamatsu directed both of them. Tomokazu Sugito voiced Gintoki from Gintama and Hidenori from DKnN. Audio Highs composed music for both shows. Also, same comedy style: mocking everything around them! Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is Gintama in High school setting.

The premise of both shows sounds very simple and boring! Raising a child in Usagi Drop and passion for a very simple card game named karuta in Chihayafuru. But masterful execution is the main reason that I'm going to say, Chihayafuru and Usagi Drop are two of the most enjoyable shows of 2011 in the same way. Also, similar josei art fits the beautiful and realistic theme of both.

...then you might like Shinryaku! Ika Musume add

Lead character of these shows have a very strange goal! Yamada in B Gata H Kei wants to make about 100 sex friends and Ika Masume in Shinryaku wants to take over the world, but none of them have no clue of the truth beyond their simple imagination of their goal! Very funny Stories to watch with random jokes here and there.

Both of them tell a story about a guy (with different ages) who live in a boring city in which actually nothing happen. But when they run into an alien woman, their life completely change. Crazy Rock music is a fine aspect of both shows and the guitar is the main weapon against enemy aliens!

...then you might like Byousoku 5 Centimeter add

Both of them are completely realistic. Stories are about love and both of them shows the bittersweet facts of life!
