I was surprised that I enjoyed a vampire anime so much. I was nervous when I saw Staz's initial reaction to human Fuyumi, but after his stalkery interest in her went away, I warmed up to the anime. I originally tried it out because someone commented that the same voice of Nice in Hamatora is Staz Charlie Blood in Blood Lad. The characters are the most interesting part of this story. Definitely make sure to watch the OVA as well because this anime gears up in episode 10 and then drops you cold. -KH

Free! Eternal Summer

Like Free!: Eternal Summer it's centered around a school club. While in Free! it's swimming, in Hyouka it's solving mysteries. The most similar element between Free! and Hyouka are the similarities between Haru and Houtarou. They essential have the same situation, a very talented boy with tons of potential and little motivation. While Haru gains his motivation from racing his friends, Houtarou finds his in a, somewhat Gou-like, girl who is curious about everything. Both animes are pretty light but reach dramatic points in the later episodes. Both are pretty funny. The art style is also pretty similar. If you liked Free! Or were amused by Haru's character in general, check out Hyouka.
