Consistently in the top 10 in terms of viewership in Japan, kekkaishi shares the same shounen genre as its other more popular counterparts. while it does not boast legions of characters or long names for techniques, it takes the simple and often overlooked technique, the kekkai and expands it, giving it a fresher twist.
