My ratings are (mostly) based on the opinion I had of the series after I just finished watching them. The reason some of my series don't receive a rating is because I may have watched the series a long time ago and don't really remember it or I don't prefer rating a series which I may perceive as being lower than a 5.
The series I've rated the highest have been touching to my core. In terms of touching, the series doesn't necessarily have to be something which makes me feel incredibly sad, but it can also be something that has made me feel motivated or inspired in a powerful way. Often though - depending on the series - the best ones check all of the above.
In conclusion, I'm often feeling my personal feelings through a series. The more I get to engage in these powerful feelings, the more I get attached. That is probably what makes a great series for me - getting attached.
When I was watching the series Monster, Heinrich Lunge was the one character I was eagerly waiting to see at the start of every new episode. In the beginning of Monster - when he was introduced - I fell in love with his charismatic appearance and the aura of mystery surrounding him. All in all, the characters in Monster aren't shallow and it just so happened that I personally found Lunge - amongst many others - to be a very unique and interesting character.
