THIS REVIEW CONTAINS POTENTIAL SPOILERS
With the final season wrapping up (except that is not since this is part 2 of 3 arcs), fans will soon come to explore what are probably the most hyped moments in the entire series thus far. Though many of heard of what relatively happens during the final stages of the story, they are still unsure of the outcomes. For anyone wondering what has changed since the first part, the feeling may be mutual or change and whether that be for better or for worse...you will have to see for yourself to understand. All I can say is that when you
...
finish this part you will see this as either the last good piece of this series or the start of its downfall.
Story: 9/10
While the story has had many plot revelations and twists along the way, this part of the story that this season covers, has the biggest ones and completely changes the perspective of how you view the whole story. A lot of moments fans expecting to see their scene get animated, they delivered. It also reintroduces a framework that we have seen occasionally that likes to connect the past present and future into one continuum without so much as going to retconning it for the sake of shock value.
Art: 6/10
This was probably the lowest part in this season for me. Feeling optimistic about the animation improving, I'm safe to say that I am somewhat disappointed. While the earlier episodes still featured the use of CGI, it was kept to a lesser degree compared to part 1. So if you were the kind of person to criticize MAPPAs use of CGI in the last part (which I must admit, I was borderline those kinds of people), you will feel a little bit MORE frustrated because what the studio decided to do was implement it more in later episodes. While we won't know the full details on how each episode was handled, it is a very clear indication that they're working on a crunch and that viewers will see through it. On top of the questionable use of CGI is in the actual art direction. Several episodes will feature still frames of characters doing nothing and switching between them with almost no animation showing, in fact in some scenes it will showcase the scenery over and over again before you see the characters again. You can look at this as them taking a new artistic feel with each scene that the manga in otherwise couldn't show, but the experience will be different since they ARE two different mediums. Background characters resorted to simply reacting are drawn with an even lesser quality. If you're someone who can recall watching dragon ball z thoroughly, part 2 receives the same treatment in terms of art direction but is now only 12 episodes instead of 200+.
Sound: 9/10
Like the seasons first part, you will still grasp the switch in music tone as the story is still evolving through its darker phase. What IS nice is MAPPAs decision to return older ones from previous seasons and insert them here. Beast Titan theme, Call your Name, and T-KT make their appearances although sometimes they are orchestrated to be appropriate with the narrative. While nothing totally revolutionary is heard throughout 12 episodes, each scene did feel like it got the proper background music it needed
Character: 9/10
This will continue what you were left on back last year but dives in further into the supporting characters as what happens this time leaves key individuals out of frame. All seiyuus still deliver on par with their past performances and is still the only constant that remains in high quality. Reason why I give this section a 9 and not a 10 despite the praise is that these people will still portray the characters that they are but in a story that is starting to change radically and as said before, either the end of something good or the start of something bad.
Enjoyment: 9/10
As someone who has finished the manga already, seeing this get adapted was of particular importance as all of MY favourite moments were in this story arc. I am proud to say that the directors, animators, script writers, and everyone else did a fantastic job of doing their best to make those certain scenes absolutely worth it. The delivery of some may not be as great as I would have hoped but it's still wonderful nonetheless.
Overall: 8/10
Still a great watch for those wondering to continue watching. If you are someone who has heard the details of what's to come later, you've probably already been warned and if not now, then I will do it myself. Enjoy this part for as long as you can as part 3 may feel, "different".

The girl who leapt through time was a movie I was recommended to watch several years ago but hadn't started yet because I was preoccupied with other shows at the time. A 90 min movie where it tries to go really in depth of how time travelling can bring many good things but also let you know, you won't realize how much you regret or lose until it actually happens.
Story - 8/10
A really good story told well. It shows the kind of characters that exist in the era in which the movie takes place and how these characters will impact the main characters actions, Makoto.
...
After her supposed 'death' She accidentally discovers she is able to travel back in time by leaping and crashing into things. Though not knowing why she can do this, Makoto tries to take advantage of this new power and try to alter events that already happened to her favor. However this ultimately leads to events that were ultimately sad and horrifying to watch and by the end of it, I was left somewhat bittersweet as the ending leaves many questions to be answered but at least it puts all the pain and misery she and someone else endured to rest.
Art - 7/10
I realize that this is an old movie way back in 2006. The animation is really nice and like all other movies, studios usually put more of the prettier looking art into the environment backgrounds and for some reason less effort on the actual characters. This movie is no different. Despite its age, characters don't really contrast well with the beautiful scenery and at times, duplicate frames occur as well as frames lasting longer than necessary. This may have been a ploy to drag out the runtime because if you were to neglect that, this movie would be at least 10 mins shorter.
Sound - 9/10
Not much of the soundtrack is heard until the later half of the movie and honestly, that was the half I enjoyed more. The story started to shift in mood and in another direction during this part, and so did the music. It fit greatly with the events that were concurrently happening on screen and overall reflect the emotions one would be feeling during those moments. The vocal OST was absolutely beautiful.
Characters - 8/10
Even though the story primarily centers on Makoto, the story also revolves around Chiaki as well but I won't spoil why that is. Both their character developments were fantastic. Every other character however, seemed like they were there to further exaggerate Makoto's time travelling abilities and it REALLY shows since she goes back in time A LOT. You will see the same scene at least 3 times with different outcomes each. Makoto's aunt and Kousuke may seem like important characters but they're just there to either provide moral support when needed, or just to be the sole reason for Makoto's actions respectively.
Enjoyment - 9/10
The movie CAN feel like it's trying to establish a lot in the first 30 mins, ironic since the movie is much shorter than average to begin with. The plot twist and darker themes this story tells won't be seen until after an hour has passed, but by then if you make it that far, you would probably be invested in this already. I myself was getting a little anxious at the start but of course I thoroughly enjoyed it in the end.
Overall - 8/10
A decent movie one should watch sooner or later. Any younger anime watchers may be turned off by what most people would consider, below average animation. The story's message is the main highlight of this and although some of the tags include adventure and romance, not much is seen throughout. But I think people can notice it's more prevalent then they might think once they fully grasp the story even if it was left ambiguous.

[WARNING, THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS]
Note: This is not the end of Attack on Titan, there is going to be a part 2 to this season if you haven't already guessed by now.
Over the years, Attack on Titan has continued to evolve both in popularity and story. It is one of a few shows where the main genre has completely shifted. It went from a shounen to shounen/seinen to now almost being entirely seinen. The final season, or rather final season “part 1” is a perfect example in showing the evolution of the story and how much the characters have changed. This show has truly set
...
the stage for what is inevitably going to be the very last conclusion of this amazing story.
Story - 10/10
Probably one of the best stories in a very long time. Here we see the last two arcs (roughly 25% of the last one) in its fruition. The first 4 episodes took us in a different setting to allow us to learn about the new characters that we would be seeing for a while and sure enough we learn just enough to know the most important part of attack on titan’s themes and motifs. No one is a hero or villain in this story. Everyone has been brought up differently by the secrecy, propaganda and brainwashing their people enforced upon them and what we see in the final season is the result of what these characters have become because of that. The story overall is much more violent, aggressive, darker, gloomier, and sad than any other season before it.
Art - 8/10
This was probably the most controversial aspect of this season due to the change in studios from WIT to MAPPA. Many people complained about the new art style of the characters, but they particularly were critical of MAPPA’s use of CGI. Majority of the titan battles employed this unique form of CGI that differed a lot from WITs. Whether you see that as a better or worse thing is really up to you, but it was definitely unusual than one would expect, you would have to watch it yourself to see what I mean and understand where all the hate possibly came from. The animation itself in the long run was great overall, many moments looked so beautiful to look at and honestly better than some of the manga panels to be honest. MAPPA is covering for the eventual part 2 of this season but it seems they are being rushed to get this out like the first part. With the time constraints and backlash they were given, they all still did a decent job adapting.
Sound – 10/10
This first part didn’t really need such a powerful OST like the first 3 seasons because these arcs do not prioritize in putting constant action in your face but rather show a more sadistic and cruel way of fighting. People who complain about their favorite track not being used in a certain moment don’t really appreciate the impact of said tracks. The consensus was that the staff should have reused OST’s from some of the most shocking and revealing moments in the series but reusing them lowers the impact it had when it was first heard. Of course we do hear some portions of some of the previously used songs but the new OST was still primarily dominant. The soundtrack is amazing. Both the opening and the ending themes, though weird to start…started to grow on I think all of us by the middle of it. These were good choices because it perfectly fits the mood and the tone this season is supposed to take in addition to the new OST and I’m happy the staff and the orchestra did that. Voice acting is superb, and everyone makes their character so believable. You can really see all the emotions, and feelings the characters feel so well. The cast at this point has reached all-star level and it will probably only get better from here.
Character - 10/10
The final season has some of the most well written arcs and our characters have developed so much even in ways you didn’t expect. Our main cast changes their look in the 4-year gap but the most notable 2 to have changed so much since we last saw them is Eren and Reiner. Eren is likely the one who has changed the most, not because he’s simply the main character but also because of his motivations and ambitions. Here we see him in a much gloomier, darker, and a more violent matter because of the events that transpired and were revealed to him and his actions reflect that. Reiner on the other hand whom we likely initially hated at first grew on me because we learn much of his backstory as well as his life beyond the walls. The season shows us how mentally unstable he became throughout the course of the story and is suffering due to his trauma and horror he faced. These two guys have totally changed the personalities of their companions, and it really shows near the end of the series. At first, we see sasha die because of gabi and her vendetta against eldians but ultimately, it was Eren who had inevitably dragged the survey corps into Liberio. Her death ruins the trio of her, Connie, and Jean. Connie, who was someone we believed would bring the bright side of this story is now completely in distraught and fosters hatred towards Eren and his followers. Another example is when someone like Armin who is someone who fought for Eren to death and was a close friend of him for almost all his life, take no time in thinking of hurting him for the sake of Mikasa. Mikasa whom Eren saved when they were young and was friends with for a long time shows his true feelings toward her and Armin. Even some of the side antagonists have developed such tragic stories when you see how much war has hurt them at a such a young age. Gabi and Falco in the 16 episodes have been exposed to their enemies but also tried to blend in with them for a period of time, all while keeping the preconceived notion that the eldians are devils (particularly gabi). We see both learn that they are virtually the same and see the tension when the other race tries to bond with the others. These are just some examples on how messed up everyone can get but in a compelling way too.
Enjoyment - 10/10
From start to finish, every episode was excellent and delivered enough or more to get me intrigued for every single new episode. There are moments where it really leaves you on the edge of your seat. You’ll probably be telling your self “Oh my god”, “oh shit”, “what the hell” or any other variation of those phrases a lot because there are so many 180’s and plot twists you don’t expect to happen but they do. If you’re someone who wants or loves a lot of action and awesome scenes, you will have to wait a bit as this season is a little patient with that. After episode 5, it’s just pure anarchy.
Overall - 10/10
Clearly one of the best seasons or even a show in general out there that anyone can watch. It is wonderfully crafted and subverts expectations in a positive way. It tries to shift genres mid way, which although is a very risky move, it is done very well. I’m so excited for part 2 or should I say the epic conclusion to this series in a few months and I hope you are as well.
Note: Pieck has a BIG BOOTY : )

Many people have anticipated the manga to be animated and when the wildfire spread all over the place in 2013, people were gushing over it. The popularity grew dramatically and along the way caused controversies as to whether it had become overrated. After watching the first 3 seasons, it is not. It never failed to deliver what Attack on Titan really is. So, what about this part of season 3? It still holds well. Whether you are a newcomer or a die-hard fan, you must admit that this is one of the best anime in a long time.
Story - 10/10
The story in Attack on Titan
...
was always deep and left many of us speculating what would happen next and came up with many theories. When I saw the first few episodes, I thought that the armored and colossal titans were simply evolved versions of the normal mindless titans or maybe the titan’s leaders or something. Over time, I was left heartbroken about the world in which the story takes place.
This part of season 3 covers the return to shiganshina arc, and in my opinion is the most emotional arc of the entire story. Within these 10 episodes, there are many plot changes that leaves me more intrigued about future seasons. In short, this season shows us our heroes returning to the district where it all began, meeting familiar faces, and of course...learning the truth about the outside world as well as some backstory.
Art - 10/10
The studio never fails to give us quality animation of our beloved characters and show us the beautiful scenery we were hoping to see in a long time. Certain moments are done especially well, such as Bertholdt's transformation into the colossal titan and Levi's fight against the Beast Titan. In scenes where characters are standing still for a couple of seconds, you can see how it is so like the manga (Mikasa's face as she wakes up in her cell makes her more beautiful than you can imagine). It is moments like this where people can admire the hard work that has gone into producing these wonderful episodes, and needless to say, while it does not retain its usual black outlining displayed in the first season...which I believed was a defining portion of the animation. It still gives us an example of how anime should be done these days.
Sound - 9/10
Soundtrack is amazing as ever and all the tracks you will listen to this season is played at the right time for maximum experience, despite several scenes (Levi vs Beast Titan could have been better). I can't remember all the songs that are featured but they are nonetheless just as good if not better than the first several OST's. Hiroyuki Sawano delivers the best songs for the audience and the studio takes it even further by playing them for parts that make you feel the vibe you're suppose to feel. If an episode is going to be very sad, the opening will be cut and most of the soundtrack is absent. If the episode is going to feature a lot of fights and deaths, better pull out that song with a lot of powerful vocals. Ending theme is 10x better than the opening hands down!
Voice acting is probably at its highest level. I know some characters such as Eren, Mikasa, Armin, Levi, Erwin, and even Grisha have all received critical praise for their ability to convey the characters tone and message. Kaji Yuki and Hiroshi Kamiya are one of my favourite Seiyuu's out there. All the voice actors have always been able become the character and really let us feel what they are going through.
Character - 10/10
Oh boy I believe this is the best part. We have seen what each character has done and how they act according to the situation. On top of that, OVA's and memories show us further what each person has experienced and how the titans changed their lives. Specific ones such as Armin, and Levi throughout this arc have really displayed what kind of person they've really become.
Armin; We first initially saw him as just an ordinary boy, who had great hopes and dreams about the outside world. He has always been Eren and Mikasa's friend and over the years has shown us that he cares about them a lot. If either one of them is in trouble he would make no hesitation to help, although he would try in the least harmful way to avoid trouble for him as well. He has been a person who can act decisively and efficiently to prioritize his missions in the hopes that no one dies. Here we see him in a position of authority, leading the new survey corps into the district to reclaim the area under Erwin's command because he believes that Armin's intuition and mind are very useful. He was right, he was able to uncover the hiding spot of his enemies and come up with a plan to take bertholdt out under a lot of stress. Speaking of which, he is also able to make decisions if it came at a price. He was willing to risk his life for Eren and in turn, showed all of us that he isn't just some weak smart individual, but a strong, brave, and determined person.
Levi; Much of us saw Levi as this superhuman who can kill almost any titan (thanks to his Ackerman heritage) and no matter how strong or abnormal the enemy is, he shows almost no emotion or hesitation and takes the fight with a lot of courage. Then again that was how we saw Levi for most of the time anyway. With the OVA's and part one of season 3, we have witnessed that Levi had a very rough upbringing, his childhood underground forcing him to fight for survival as well as his relationship with Erwin and Kenny inherently made Levi into a very proficient soldier. However, he is still able to lose it, the plan to take out the beast titan. This was a side of Levi that wasn't seen for quite a while. The position he was in and what he was supposed to do showed us his guilt and how much he was risking. It displayed a totally satisfying side of Levi, which is a reason why so many people love him. He feels the distraught of having to carry the burden midway through the season and had to move on from it quickly.
Enjoyment - 9/10
This section will be a lot shorter. No doubt this will definitively grab your attention but, I feel as though this could've been 12 episodes as well, that would give an extra episode or two to fill up on the backstory. In one episode, the whole history of the people was rushed within about 10 minutes. Then the next we spend about two episodes with Grisha and Eren Kruger when really...both parts could have been about the same length.
Overall - 10/10
Attack on titan is truly one of the best anime I have ever seen, although there are some flaws here and there, there is a guarantee that no matter how much experience you have with this show, you will most likely be on board...and hopefully like me, will be excited for the final season.
