If the anime was completed & continued, Blood Lad would be a fun & entertaining ongoing series as the characters, world, interactions & fights are solid but sadly there is only one season and most of it by the end of the final episode was set-up and worldbuilding.

It lacked answers to questions, payoffs to events and overall there wasn't a conclusion to anything that was presented from the shows start.

If the show recieves another season by some chance, I think it would be worth the watch for those who want story and a fun world but as it stands you should only watch it for ... the jokes/references. Something that you could do on YouTube and save yourself from watching 10 20+minute episodes. Which is a damn shame.

Generic Harem where the straightforwardness of the Childhood friend is wasted on another dense MC who taking into account everything in the series and the first couple of episodes is a moron, especially when it comes to his abilities.

It has episodes that act serious & lack the perverted scenes & jokes that make the show tolerable and in doing so make you feel like you've wasted 20 mins on a boring slog. While this sort of show should be experienced by turning off your brain the blatant lack of following its own rules is frustrating and the LP system lacks consistency and follow through.

Overall a ... lot of the shows issues are more evident during the second half of the season with 'serious' episodes showing up out of nowhere and a rushed finale.

It's a shame because if more thought, depth & development was put into the series and focus placed on the main character/childhood friend, the show could have been something special or better than it ended up being.

Inu x Boku has an age gap that isn't realized until the end of the first episode alongside surface level supernatural elements that appear around the same time with little to no explaination.

Outside of Secret Service members being myths etc. and odd occurances once in a blue moon, the anime lacks any significant supernatural elements that get explained with the exception of random monsters that appear, which a show listed under the genres would have.

It also lacks an authentic romantic connection or chemistry between the Female Lead & Male Lead as their first 3 episode interactions feel incredibly forced on the male side resulting ... in a complete lack of chemistry.

On top of that even though the Female Lead is someone who can't convey their thoughts correctly and we hear her true thoughts at times, the show spends a majority of its episodes with an inactive female lead who never develops or progresses, seemingly until the final 2-3 episodes.

All while that's happening you get episodes that feel like long running anime filler with little to no main character developments or experiences. That being said for the majority of the show it felt like there was more chemistry & romantic development between two side characters than the main couple and that the whole side character cast had more to offer than the two leads.
