I don't have a whole lot to say about this show, so this won't be an exhaustive or even remotely in-depth review. But it's a fantastically enjoyable, raunchy, episodic show that never takes itself too seriously, it's a raunchy young young-guy comedy done right; it's a shame to see so many anime tackle the same basic concept all these decades later and fail to produce something even close to as good as Golden Boy.

direction is great and really makes you yearn for that nostalgic top-tier 90s animation that just hasn't been replicated in the later decades. It's really shocking how well animated this show is given that it's a short six-episode OVA.
All in all just a very enjoyable, well executed and animated anime. With no grandiose ambitions, yet it still manages to really stick out to me as one of best feel-good risqué anime of the 90s despite it's brevity.

I'll make this review really short. Redo of Healer is basically what happens if you adapt a hentai doujin on steroids to television. It's the embodiment of everything that is generic awful anime, down to the fact that it relies exclusively on being extremely "edgy" and depicting copious amounts of rape, suffering, and torture-porn to try and draw in an audience. Everything else (story, art, etc.) is terrible to mediocre.
This show is alright if, and only if, you view it as a glorified low-budget pornographic/hentai program, which is what it really it at heart. It's really not worth the time it takes to watch unless

you're doing so with the intention of getting your rocks off, in which case, more power to you.
All-in-all a terrible, embarrassing show to watch that's better viewed as edgy pornography than actual art. I genuinely feel bad for all of the real-life people who were involved in producing this.

Time of Eve is wonderful short six-episode OVA, that despite not having the greatest visual or audio fidelity even for it's time, manages to flesh out it's interesting characters and explore actual themes even on it's meager crowdfunded budget. More so than 99% of the seasonal anime that get produced with a budget 50 times larger.
As excepted of a story about androids, themes about humanity are explored but not any way that feels redundant or tedious. Characters say and behave in interesting ways and the entire premise of the show, a cafe which self-aware androids attend in a clandestine manner, provides a vehicle through

which many thought-provoking, introspective moments may be had.
I thoroughly recommend this show to anyone seeking something beyond generic seasonal Idol, Isekai, etc anime. It delivers all one could ask of an OVA, especially on the budget it was produced with, and I think the only negative emotion I felt in my time with this show was some mild disappointment that there wasn't more.

The show is nothing but a vapid, hollow exercise in "the protagonists always win with convoluted dues ex machina plot devices!" while expecting you to sympathize with mass murdering criminal protagonists, and is utterly uninteresting or moving to that end. There are spoilers in this review.
Akudama Drive has every hallmark of a bad action anime. Boring one-dimensional characters without any development. Characters who act utterly illogically and downright stupidly for the sake of the plot. Copious amounts of killing and gore to give the false impression of "maturity" or being "cool". just contrived to fit whatever the plot needs. Deus ex machina out the wazoo in basically every episode. Etc. Sprinkle the comically overused trope of all/most main characters dying in an undeserved attempt to make us care about them for good measure. I could keep listing ad nauseam the things wrong with this show but frankly it's not even worth my time to do that, others have already done it and far more in-depth as well.
What I will talk about is how stupid the main plot twist is. I'm not even diametrically opposed to the idea of Kanto all being a super-computer, but the fact that our main protagonist, who is supposedly an empathetic good-girl who wants to save the lives of two innocent children, does so by committing a mass murder (again) of potentially hundreds of millions of people utterly destroys what shambles resembling a plot were left. It's such a dumb, stereotypical bad anime thing to do it actually boggles my mind that this script put forth by the writers was accepted. A show ultimately about a girl saving two innocent children, does so by indirectly slaughtering thousands in the real world, and hundreds of millions of people in cyberspace. I'm going to let the sheer stupidity of that stand on it's own.
All in all the Akudama Drive completely failed at making me care about it's characters, (bad) plot, or themes, if there even were any. The fact that people are calling this utterly pointless, generic, frustratingly mediocre excuse of a show "anime of the year" I think says more about the standard intelligence of the typical 'anime fan' more than anything.

Kill la Kill, Studio Trigger's first independent work, would ironically turn out to be it's magnum opus. A seamless blend of action, comedy, and serious drama while incorporating all the best tropes of the Shounen series of olde while avoiding the accompanying pitfalls. Kill la Kill is a feast for the senses while delivering a unique and enthralling plot that never misses a beat, and is always progressing.
The story, the weakest link in so many "good" anime, is excellent in Kill la Kill. Plot specifics aside, not a single episode of the show is pointless "filler" or is ever disrespecting the viewer by wasting

their time. Kill la Kill effortlessly portrays amazing scenes of every tonal variety, while never deviating from the point of story, which is to progress the plot. Kill la Kill's plot itself is very unique, and while is draws elements from the older Shounen manga and anime, it makes sure to do it's own thing. It succeeds in taking "fanservice" and turning it on it's head, transforming it from a shameless attention grabber, into an integral and interesting part of the story. The plot is phenomenal, in that it has a very interesting premise, and it's progression is never hampered, never falls for bad tropes, knows when to take itself seriously and when not to, and always has something interesting happening. There is never a tired moment in Kill la Kill.
Yoshinari Yoh and the other key artists really outdid themselves in Kill la Kill. The level of effort put into every episode cannot be understated. Every frame is hand drawn, and even when CGI is occasionally used, it's on hand-painted backgrounds and with immaculate visual effects that blends seamlessly into KLK's visual style. All the artwork done in KLK culminates into Trigger's hallmark stylistic look, with character's, action, etc. always looking very crisp and holding a very high bar for standards. The visual style never deteriorates and in fact only gets more rich as the show progresses. Older teen girls fighting in supernatural power-imbued scanty sailor uniforms has never looked this good.
As with everything in the show, the sound design in again, excellent. A superb original soundtrack by Hiroyuki Sawano complements atmospheres and characters perfectly, with a great mix of of genre and types. Also of note is his clever incorporation of classical music tracks into scenes in a way that feels very natural. Overall not much to say in this section, other the sound composition and magnificently executed, and you should experience it for yourself if you haven't already.
Characterization is one of KLK's strongest areas. Characters, including the side ones, never feel like an afterthought and all given development and are fleshed out. However the main characters are naturally given the most development, and as such are some of the strongest and most memorable of any television series. You come to able to understand and empathize with all of their different struggles and ideals, and simultaneously receiving a highly enjoyable visual spectacle. Characterization and exposition never feels like a boring "learning tax" just to be able to understand the character's motivations. Everything is done fluidly and in a way that makes you even more enamored with the show and characters themselves.
In terms of "enjoyment" or the "feel" of the show, it does even better than one might expect. The show never resorts to pointless, or 'low brow'/shameless fan service to keep you interested. It's merely a bonus that is also integral to the plot. The characters, stylization and visuals, the music, and never knowing what's around the corner in terms of the story all coalesce to make the show extremely enjoyable while never stooping to cheap tricks like filler to extend it's overall length. KLK is about as close as it gets to pure anime good-ness, where every episode has memorable moments that are fun to remember.
Overall the Kill la Kill is as close to "perfect" as an anime is able to be, as of end-of-year 2020. It executes all the individual components that make a good show immaculately and it's reflected in the finished product's quality. If I could only watch one anime series for the rest of my life, I'd have to pick Kill la Kill. The genius of the creators and hard work of everyone involved in making the series really shows, and I highly recommend watching the behind the scenes documentary for Kill la Kill after completing it. If you haven't watched it, you're missing out on the greatest single-cour anime television series to date. If you have, you know what I'm talking about, and I implore you to rewatch it after watching the behind the scenes of Kill la Kill.

This show is an exercise in how not to execute a large, big-budget anime television series. I will admit, I was initially quite interested in it's premise. Combined with the excellent opening and general art quality of the series, I had high hopes for this show.
However, extremely poor handling particularly by the writers, doomed this show. Characters are extremely uninspired and one dimensional, to the point of being baffling and lacking all real motivation behind their actions (in particular, the "villains"). I don't mean to sound too hostile when I say this, but the characters and plot legitimately feel like they were written by high

schoolers.
The show also has some of the worst pacing I have ever seen in a television show. Entire episodes are dedicated who bland, utterly uninteresting exposition dumps and completely break any semblance of pacing. Indeed, an entire main character seems to exist solely for the purpose of dumping exposition. The show violates many cardinal sins on "good" storytelling.
I feel very generous giving this show a 5/10. Most of what I did like was extremely surface-level stuff that is more a product of people like the animators and character designers who were hired for the project being extremely talented, than anything resembling prowess in producing a good anime. But on that note, yes the art, animation, and soundtrack are all very well made. But Re:Creator's abysmal plot quality made the show impossible to enjoy, and frankly at times just frustrating to watch, hence my dropping it halfway through the series.
I should note that I did watch this series when it originally aired.
