I loved this show back in the day and was so happy to hear that they made a new season in 2018. As a kid, I enjoyed mech anime and felt that the characters in this show in particular were all likable and unique. Once they hit us with a spinoff series just for laughs in Fumoffu, I got even more attached to the characters because I don't like to take things seriously. I think the best part of Full Metal Panic has always been the easygoing and fun interactions between Kaname and clueless Sousuke.
In comparison to the first two plot-based seasons, I thought
...
Invisible Victory improved in some areas but suffered in others. The theme of this new season is more similar to that of Second Raid in that the plot itself takes on a more realistic and darker approach to the relationship between Kaname and Sousuke. Unlike the first two seasons, Invisible Victory at times feels rushed because its short 12-episode is dense with a large array of scenes and locations that can be difficult to follow. In terms of animation quality, this new season definitely improved and offered interesting shots that did a good job at incorporating CGI for any fast-paced scenes. In the last few episodes, I had no idea where the show was going but I still relatively happy with how they chose to end it.
In conclusion, I get the feels whenever I hear "futari de nigebasho sagashite" and am hoping they make another season of this show within the next decade!
