Last koike film (for now) done 😭😭😭😭😭
Now goemons movie is objectively still the best so far and I will say that but I play favorites and I will admit I like fujiko a lot more than goemon (sorry goemon). She was so good here even with the screaming child who was with her for most of the movie. Jig and lup were also very fun to watch here too
I like how koike is slowly building to a grand overarching plotline with I Assume mamo from the OG ... movie. Every big villain is some super powered crazy killer and they’re all being manufactured on some island in the middle of nowhere probably at the hand of mamo which is probably a reference to mystery of mamo where he shows lupin that he can recreate the brain of all kinds of historical figures and shit. I find it all sooo Fascinating.
Just an overall really fun and really GOOD movie!!!!!! It’s hard to say whether I’d put it on the same rank as goemons bloodspray even if best girl fuji was the star of this one since goemons movie was so visually impressive so I’d say it’s a solid A

Easily one of the fucking coolest looking movies I’ve ever watched and honestly one of the best lupin movies period. I love how it’s kind of a backstory as to how goemon got so lightning quick w his sword and why it looks the way it does in the first place. TOTALLY unexpected. Also what’s the strangest but also funniest part abt this movie is the fact that the main villain is a fucking immortal killer lumberjack who almost kills everyone at least 3 times. It’s insane. ... There’s also GRATUITOUS GORE IN FHIS ONE TOO. EVERY SCENE HAS SOMEONE VIOLENTLY LOSING A LIMB FROM GOEMONS SWORD OR GETTING CRUSHED UNTIL THEY EXPLODE OR GETTINV BULLETS IN THEIR HEAD. SHITS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC. LUPIN LITERALLY HAS WOOD LODGED IN HIS ARM FOR THE ENTHRE LAST PART OF THE MOVIE.
This movie was short like jigens gravestone but definitely better in every way. Also I appreciate how lex lang was cast for goemon himself, nobody else can do it like him. I’m also getting used to jigens VA more, he definitely did better here than the last movie. Overall a really great one, it’s too short to be S tier but it’s still great so I give it a nice A+
Next up fujikos lie and I’m caught up w the koike shenanigans 🤯🤯🤯

watched it out of complete impulse and ITS ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITES I THINK. Mostly bc of the animation tbh. I don’t have a whole lot to say on this one bc it’s really similar to all the other lupin specials/movies I’ve seen thus far in terms of story structure and such. However it’s animation is unbelievably good. Like I’d compare it w some of the best this franchise has to offer easily. I Especially like all the fucking beautifully animated scenes of lupin getting ... the fucking shit beat out of him! Very well done! Also the movie itself is really funny and I love the dub as usual
One thing I have to note is the strange ass villain of the movie?? I don’t feel like getting into that but… uh yeah. I know things were made in different times but their whole deal felt very mean spirited and malicious especially w the fact that they r an actual nazi. A lot to unpack there and I don’t wanna do that. Not a fan TMS!🤥🤥🤥
IGNORING THE CONTROVERSIAL MAIN VILLAIN is say this movie gets a nice A rating! This is definitely another turn ur brain off and watch the nice moving pictures one

Animation was jaw dropping the whole way through
even tho the plot felt like more of a movie FEATURING lupin rather than a lupin movie I still loved every moment lupin was on screen they made him look so good also they knew exactly what they were doing making jigen Look so smexy
Also side note I like how Hitler was in the story and lupin said at the end “nazis lose” or something along tjose lines. Very funny
Lupin movie gets 9/10 only complaint is that they got really ... trigger happy with the crazy camera movements and I got nauseas sometimes when the camera went wacko but that’s nbd

Watched the Columbus files. Kind of a meh movie. I liked the more serious moments lupin had and the usual goemon jigen stupidity. The gimmick of the movie is literally just the cliche main girl character has amnesia and jusy so happens to have seen something important right before losing her memory (COUGH COUGH detective Conan movie Captured in her eyes COUGGGHH) the movies exclusive character/story was also kinda dumb as usual with lupin movies but she was way more girlboss than most others I’ve seen so ... she gets a plus there
This lupin movie gets a very straight cut 7/10. Not the worst but far from the best

Watched blood seal of the eternal mermaid and it was so good. It had the usual lupin movie plot rehashes but there were so many good moments and ghe animation was mind blowing at times so I quickly ignored the samey structure. I noticed really quick they used a super heavily inspired ghibli/Miyazaki style Maybe in reference to cagliostro which I thought was nice. Lupin himself had a lot of really fun moments too. The token superpowered movie exclusive girl was fairly interesting and the little girl ... maki made a very good sidekick to lupin
Overall I had a fun time :) 8.5/10
I’d give a 9 but the plot sometimes felt a bit TOO been there done that. Other than that it was a really great lupin movie

So good holy shit. Like usually I don’t get hooked on anime in this kind of way. I genuinely smiled watching through all of this anime I love these characters so much. The pacing was great the way everything was laid out was amazing the overarching plot was so unpredictable and fun to watch. It was just great. I loved seeing lupin get serious since his whole shtick is that he’s this wacky goofy dude. I was so ready to hate ami but I really grew to ... love her too. Every single character was great.
One thing I have to say tho. Wtf was with that ending where lupin “took off his mask”???? WAS IT SYMBOLIC WAS IT LITERAL WHAT DID HE MEAN BY THAT

what a nice story. Out of all the self contained story lupin girls I’ve seen Rebecca is probably my favorite. She was really fun to watch I loved her and lupins dynamics. The overarching plot itself felt a tad bit messy at times and kinda whatever like wtf was w the English secret service being main antagonists. However I appreciate the bold question TMS asked making this part: “wouldnt it be fucked up if they implanted da Vinci’s memories into a clone and let him run free”
Also ... out of both p4 and 5 I can say p4 really utilized the Italian setting way more than 5. Part 5 felt like it barely took place in France, like ok they mention galettes once and that’s it. Also half the story doesn’t even take place in France the mfs go to India and the Middle East for a good chunk of it too. If I have to knock part 5 for something other than the weird ami shit it’s definitely the under utilization of the setting

Finished cagliostro and it’s just as great as I remember. This film is absolutely beautiful every single scene looks gorgeous, the bg designers put their whole pussy in these sweeping environmental shots it’s astounding. It feels like there’s nothing bad I can say about cagliostro apart from maybe the contents of the plot itself being a bit on the unoriginal side but like this is the kinda movie u don’t watch for the plot so that wasn’t really an issue at all. One thing I I will ... say is that it obviously feels more like a miyazaki movie than a lupin movie, like the characters were there and mostly acted like themselves but so much emphasis was put on Clarisse and the count that the cast felt very overshadowed. Regardless I still really like this more somber gentlemanly version of lupin, and I really like the idea that cagliostro lupin is a more aged version of the character. Like he’s not as wacky or insane bc hes just not as vivacious as he used to be (this is also supported by some dialogue from the movie itself too which took me by surprise)
Somewhat of a sidenote but I ljke unironically really love the goofy wonky dub for this one. It’s so fucking jarring hearing lupin being called “wolf” and jigen calling him “boss” constantly but other than that (and maybe the voices for jigen and goemon) the casting was actually pretty good imo. Lupins VA especially I have a soft spot for. He isn’t sonny strait he isn’t tony Oliver but he has this really pleasant voice to listen to idk what it is but I really like it. His voice itself makes me imagine lupin as an older version of himself too.
This is the best kind of feel good movie ever. I was genuinely smiling for the entire film.
Overall 9.5/10 still an amazing movie STILL AN EXCELLENT ENTRY POINT FOR THE FRANCHISE

Finished Mystery of Mamo and hooooly shit. This is definitely one of my new favorite lupin movies ever if not my number one favorite. The plot is actually really interesting for once, the characters r so much fucking fun to watch, the animation is amazing, and the art itself is unbelievably good. This was the first lupin movie ever made and yet somehow doesn’t even feel like it, it’s just that spot on. Every little piece of this film feels just so creative and inspired like I’ve ... never seen any kind of animated movie like this before. A little hyperbolic I’ll admit but it’s really something else. It amazes me in retrospect how mamo was made in 1978 and holds up as if it hasn’t even been a year.
One of my favorite aspects of the art direction specifically is the scratchy lines and color choices throughout the whole movie. The contrasting whites and thin pencil-y lines during certain moments always impressed me. The framing and shot composition were also extremely impressive. U could say Artistically mystery of mamo is definitely my favorite lupin movie by far just on that fact itself.
Irdk what more I could say abt this movie that won’t turn into me repeating myself for 3 more paragraphs but yeah I really really fucking enjoyed mamo.
Dub-wise I saw the geneon dub, and unsurprisingly it was really funny and really great. All cast members were as charming and fun to listen to as ever. I wanna see the streamline dub sometime soon to see how they handled it, just out of curiosity. I wanna see how Bob Bergen handles a more lupin-y lupin, compared to his work on cagliostro.
Anyways 10/10 lupin flick. I honestly can’t think of a single gripe I have with this movie apart from maybe stupid tiny nitpicks that don’t hurt the actual movie at all. Oh and the movie gets an extra bonus point for not having a stupid one-off magical movie specific girl that lupin has to save somehow.
