This is by far the best anime movie I have ever watched, and the only one I have ever enjoyed multiple times. 5 Centimeters Per Second beautifully blends imagery, music, and character development into three short episodes. The soundtrack, especially, is very relaxing and calming.
Many people say this movie is sad- this is correct, but in a different way than one might think. Rather than a loss of a lover, a parent, or a sibling (Graveyard of the Fireflies), this movie focuses on the loss of opportunity; lost chances that are regretted in the end, when they are finally impossible to fix.
