Hey, happy birthday! I hope you're doing well! :)

First off let me thank you for taking the time to read my recommendation. I find that both Okabe and Subaru have NEET traits yes, but what they go through would make the viewer want to reconsider inserting themselves into those two characters compared to the perfect harem protagonist like Kirito. Kirito is the very definition of being a self-insert while maintaining his position as a perfect gary-stu. Ask yourself, would you the viewer want to be in a situation similar to Okabe's? Or Subaru's? The hardships they faced are some of the most gruesome and I know I wouldn't want to "self-insert" myself into neither of those characters as much as I love Kurisu or Rem. Would a character being a NEET or Otaku considered a "Self-Insert"? In your case that would seem to be the case. I guess then Guts would be a self-insert for fans with tragic pasts for merely having a tragic backstory or Hinata from Haikyuu would be pandering to Volleyball players for merely playing Volleyball.

I noticed that you gave Steins;Gate some low scores. Would you care to give me a few reasons why this is the case?

I had a feeling it was gonna be like that, which is completely fine, and from what you said, it sounds like it'll be similar to Natsume Yuujinchou

Hey, just wanted to let you know I just watched the first episode of Mushishi. I really liked the art and the music, the setting is also very interesting.

Ah, LotGH. I would love to get to that (sometime) soon...

Also, thanks for the manga recs! I would be starting Berserk and Vagabond next. I also absolutely loved Koe no Katachi and Onani Master Kurosawa, nice to see some amazing taste here.
Oh wow, looks like I would be getting into some manwha. Thanks for these!

I recently finished Bonnouji and I can't agree more! (10/10) It's one of those fantastic series imo which pulls off the romance genre perfectly (it is rare to come across stuff this good in SoLxRomance)
Haven't read Horimiya yet, so added to my PTR!

Oh yes, our tastes match for this season! I am def. hyped for Haikyuu (who isn't), Hibike as well as 3-gatsu no lion and Fune wo Amu. I have high hopes on the latter two as they look interesting so far in all aspects.

I spent 18 years of my life living in Russia, to be honest :D

I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering, I am doing my final year.

What about you?
godspeed_you Oct 3, 2016 9:40 PM
You don't have to be sorry for something you had to go through in your life. I am glad that you've managed to find enough will and power to move on, and the fact that you are not afraid of sharing this just tells me that you are doing alright :)

For me, Ping Pong The Animation was the right show at the right time. As you may have noticed, I am new to Canada, and I am here completely on my own. I was always questioning my actions, my decisions and my existence in general - I just wanted to find a place where I belong. Studying full-time and working part-time was getting only worse due to feeling homesick and willing to get back to my comfort zone.

But with a combination of Arthur Schopenhauer's literature and Ping Pong the Animation, I figured my way out. (I know this sounds funny, but still)

That was a tremendous relief for me when I've finally stopped experiencing existential crises. Life is worth living, and I am glad that this is a big lesson that both of us have learned, even though we came to this conclusion by walking different paths.

Well...So far I've watched only 4 episodes, but I already have a weird feeling that I won't be able to get into this show :C
The thing is, I am not a outgoing person at all, but at the same time, i would not consider myself to be antisocial - I am somewhere in the middle.

Even though I have this feeling that this show will go over my head because I can't really relate, I will try to focus on the positive aspects.

The only show which is very dear to me is Ping Pong The Animation. I saw you gave this show a high score, do you have some special feelings for this title as well as I do?
alkalinemoe Oct 3, 2016 9:21 AM
Hey! Yeah, I finished the anime a while ago and jumped straight into the manga and god it's so good. In fact, the anime adaption looks shit in front of that masterpiece.

tbh I recently got into manga/LNs so any recs on what should I be reading next?

Also, what are you watching/reading these days? Any hype for the fall season?
Anime-ETF Oct 1, 2016 12:12 AM
Just adding shows that I have forgotten about.
alkalinemoe Sep 30, 2016 11:15 PM
Ah, either way looks sick
alkalinemoe Sep 30, 2016 8:15 AM
Hi, thanks for the add! Just curious, which anime character is your profile picture?
xcaramel Sep 30, 2016 1:23 AM
Oh, you mean the dub? Since the Jap VAs are really fitting. The pacing started getting worse from around 550+ I think. And I'm also not a fan of the arcs in that range. The current arc is really goooooood though. I hope you're enjoying it! And I hope you enjoy Water 7 as much as I did.

Ugh, took me a long time to reply. Was as work lol
Yardhouse12 Sep 29, 2016 11:06 PM
Your profile is pretty chill.
potbrick Sep 29, 2016 9:24 PM
Same. I've been watching some translation streams of it, it's way better than I could have hoped. Ryuji in particular surprised me, he's a fantastic character and runs circles around Yosuke and Junpei imo.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
