Looking at your list it's a rather large jump into the unknown.
Me myself i just seen a picture if Sumika in a fortified suit, reminded me of eva and when i was trying out vn's i recalled on that picture and gave it a shot.
Funny thing is it was translated just a couple days prior to my decision.
And that's how Muv-Luv became the second vn series i read.
I wasn't even all that into mecha at the time but afterwards my blood pretty much turned to oil and now i can't get enough of it.
