I want to preface this by saying that I genuinely love this show... but man did it stumbled hard in the last case. In fact, I'm writing this review specifically because I want to let off the disappointment I felt after I finished watching the show.

This manga is a hidden gem in a genre that's oversaturated with the romanticisation of mental illnesses. The author handles the topic of mental illness with breathtaking realism, highlighting the hardships those with a mental illness have to go through in their daily lives. It also doesn't shy away from the impact one's parents have on a person's development.
There are a few faults, but nothing too major. For starters, the art is fairly basic. The anatomy can be fairly wonky at times, which can detract the emotional impact of an important scene. The background art is also very rudimentary, but it doesn't affect the story ... Nov 8, 2020

Holy sh*t.
Like most new Record of Ragnorak fans, I was introduced to the series by a motion comic video on Youtube. It was the fight between Adam and Zeus. When I first watched the video, I thought "hm, this seems interesting." Little did I know that it would be one of my favourite mangas of all time. Most of the fights so far have been a blast to read. Granted, the manga did start rather sloppily (Lu Bu vs Thor is my second least favourite fight), but it gets better over time. Give this manga a read if you enjoy tournament arcs. |
