guys this is only the anime ending i promise the game story is really good
like MAL wants me to write a longer review but there's nothing else to say. other than the first episode, which was for the most part a faithful adaptation/expansion of the game story, and some brilliant standout moments in animation that easily make the art a 9, this new "bad ending" isn't bad for being the worst possible outcome for this scenario; it is bad for being Fucking Bad. and there isn't much else to say about it.

madoka although i acknowledge of course it's not actually better. the characters, the interesting take on the world of madoka, and the overall more hopeful story make it worth it for me. but this was bad. i desperately wish this anime adaptation was just the game's story, especially since magireco is so hit-or-miss among the madoka fandom. i want people who think it's just a soulless gacha game to see what i see in magia record. but this doesn't show that.
honestly if you want my opinion i'd say watch up to like the end of season 1, then read from the game story starting from chapter 7 to the end of arc 1 for the real end of the story they're telling here. after that if you're really interested season 2 is a fun watch with some interesting twists & a great adaptation of tsuruno's arc, but i can't honestly say you should even bother with this final season. it is worth skipping altogether.

Oh, my God.
First off, play the games first + watch in broadcast order for full enjoyment. Personally I didn't and it didn't hinder my experience, but if you want the full experience you should do that.
...God damn it, what are these, tears? Other than maybe a few minor problems, DR3-D is brilliant in showing that the (obvious) villain Junko Enoshima is the worst person alive. I can't say much about what she does because of immense spoilers, but know that she is evil going in. Not knowing any better, though, you could walk right in completely unaware of the nature of DR and think it's

a boring slice of life anime. It's not. Also, no spoilers, but bring a box of tissues for episode 10.
As to be expected from Danganronpa, the art is beautiful. So many things are so well animated, it's just impressive. There's nothing else I can say about it.
Again, as to be expected, the sound is brilliant. Kami-iro Awase, the opening song, is my favorite anime OP of all time. It's ambient and calm, but has an air to it within the lyrics that fits the classic DR theme of the ultimate hope vs. the ultimate despair. Zettai Kibou Birthday may pale in comparison, but is still incredibly enjoyable. The overall sound design is incredibly varied in tone and overall is very good.
DR3-D technically goes in with the expectation that you know the characters, but you can still learn about them solely through the anime. Considering the size of the class, it does a fairly good job at introducing them all, and you'd know any one of them just by looking at them. Their designs are all unique and their personalities clash in interesting ways, making them entertaining to watch. Allow me to reiterate that Junko Enoshima is the worst human being to ever walk this earth.
Maybe I'm biased, but I love the shit out of this anime. It's mesmerizing how it seems so innocent going in, even if you HAVE played the games, but ends up crushing your soul.

Character - 8/10
Enjoyment - 10/10
Chiaki Nanami - Crying/10
Overall - Watch this series. It will not disappoint you. There really isn't much else to be said about it. 10/10

BGHS: Battle Girl Project was okay, but the fact that it's mostly filler that relies on you knowing its source material makes it not suited for anyone who wanted to get into the series by starting with the anime.
[note: there are very mild spoilers for the anime in this review ok pls]
The basics: Miki Hoshitsuki is a girl attending Shinjugamine Girls' School, and she's part of the Hoshimori class. She and her fellow classmates stand as the Earth's only hope against the mysterious Irous invaders, donning their celestial suits via the power of the Holy Tree. One day, as they're all training, a new member

joins the class- a strange girl known only as Misaki.
The pacing of the anime's overarching story is odd, since most of the episodes are filler. Other than learning about Misaki's character, seeing the members of the Hoshimori class get used to her, and seeing some strange unnamed woman who seems to control the Irous (if it was in the game I missed it), episodes 1-7 (and part of episode 8) are filler. What story there is, though, gets confusing really fast. Not going to give too much away, but the anime dabbles in the idea of alternate timelines and interdimensional travel. It's ambitious, but overall ends up being a confusing mess until the conclusion where some loose ends are tied up and it's more understandable. I actually had to figure out one of the more important parts of Misaki's character on my own via YouTube because of how poorly explained it was.
The art is in the same style as the mobile game, as expected. At first, it's actually really good. But over time it kinda becomes... broken, I noticed. There really isn't much else to say, by the end there are a lot of issues but it's not unwatchable.
The sound design is varied. f*f (the obligatory idol group)'s music is really well made, but some of the BGM in the anime is fairly generic. What was I expecting, though, based on the BGM in the game? Whatever. If you like idol music (which I do), you'll like f*f's episode, the OP/ED, and their music (there's actually quite a bit). Other than that, other than maybe one track which I remember, it's forgettably passable at best.
I'm gonna admit, I can't name all of the characters by name. They're all distinct, sure, but since there are so many (20?) it's hard as hell to keep track. My favorite was Sadone, based on the game mostly, and I don't really have a least favorite since I couldn't get names down.
If you like the idea of cute girls running around in cute outfits fighting monsters, cute idol girls, girls interacting and becoming friends, or the mobile game, you will probably like this anime. If you fully understand the story of the game and/or wanted to see it animated, you will be very disappointed by this anime. If you don't like any of the things I've mentioned in this paragraph, this'll probably be your least favorite anime of the Summer 2017 season.
